Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, a sacred and blessed month observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting (sawm), prayer, and sincere devotion. From dawn until sunset, believers abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs—not merely as an act of discipline, but as an act of worship and obedience to Allah. This noble month holds profound spiritual significance as it marks the revelation of the Holy Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and a mercy to the worlds. The primary purpose of fasting is to attain taqwa (God-consciousness), purify the heart, strengthen faith, and cultivate patience, humility, and compassion.
During Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged to increase their acts of ‘ibadah: performing the five daily prayers with greater khushu’, reciting and reflecting upon the Qur’an, engaging in sincere du‘a and dhikr, seeking forgiveness, giving charity (sadaqah), and striving for excellence in character. As we enter this blessed month, may we embrace its lessons and strive for spiritual renewal. Follow our Ramadan Series for more meaningful reminders and reflections throughout this sacred
