Revelation 21:8⚠️

STOP normalizing saying “YAWA”

During a deliverance session, a 15-year-old girl under intense spiritual attack manifested violently. In the midst of the prayers, the evil spirits repeatedly shouted curses like: “Yawa… yawa ka… amoa nani siya… ayaw ni hilabti…”

One thing struck me deeply the words repeatedly shouted were “yawa.”

It made me realize how often we young people use “yawa” casually, as a joke, as pamalikas, or as an expression of anger or surprise. We don’t always mean harm. But words matter.

The devil’s goal has always been the same: to steal, kill, and destroy what God lovingly created (John 10:10). Since he cannot touch God, he attacks those whom God loves most: the human person, created in God’s image. Through mortal sin and repeated habits that distance us from God, we unknowingly give the enemy room to work.

Kung permi ta mamalikas, naliwat ta sa yawa, kay pamalikas man ang iyang kinaiya.
In other words, we imitate the enemy without realizing it. When we say words like “yawa” or “panulay,” we are not just expressing emotion, we are normalizing darkness.

This also applies to parents. Demons look for opportunities when negative words or curses are spoken over children often unknowingly. But there is hope: the same mouth that curses can also bless. Parents, speak life over your children. Bless them daily. They are entrusted to you by God.

Scripture reminds us:

“Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths…” (Ephesians 4:29)
“The tongue has the power of life and death.” (Proverbs 18:21)

After the session, the girl shared that she did not use curse words but her parents did. This reminds us that our words affect not only ourselves, but especially those who hear us, particularly children.

This is not about being perfect or overly religious. It is about being conscious of what we speak. Our words shape hearts, minds, and even the spiritual environment around us.

Parents, your words are powerful.
Youth, your words are powerful.

Let us choose words that heal, encourage, and give life not out of fear, but because we belong to God. 🙏🏼
