Praise the Lord! Congratulations, Brothersπ
Message to 4th Year PACEM Seminarians Graduating in Philosophy
Dear Brothers,
As you complete your Philosophy formation, you stand at a meaningful thresholdβnot an ending, but a deep beginning.
Philosophy has trained your mind to think clearly, to question honestly, to reason patiently, and to search for truth with discipline. You have wrestled with Aristotle, dialogued with Plato, followed the clarity of St. Thomas, and explored the questions that humanity has asked for centuries. But more than the books you read, Philosophy has quietly formed you.
You have learned that truth is not loud, but patient.
That wisdom is not rushed, but matured.
That understanding requires humility.
Remember: Philosophy was never meant to make you proud of what you know, but humble before the mystery of what you do not know.
As you move forward to NOVITIATE, you now carry a sharpened mind that is ready to kneel before the greater light of Faith. For Faith does not destroy reasonβit fulfills it. What you sought through reason, you will now contemplate through revelation.
Guard three treasures Philosophy has given you:
1. The love for truth β Never settle for easy answers in your vocation or in your ministry.
2. The habit of reflection β A priest who does not think deeply will speak shallowly.
3. Intellectual humility β The more you know, the more you realize you depend on God.
You are not graduating from Philosophy to forget it. You are bringing it with you as a lifelong companion in preaching, counseling, discerning, and guiding souls.
One day, people will not ask you about Plato or metaphysics. They will ask you about suffering, meaning, doubt, God, and hope. And you will realize: Philosophy has prepared you to listen wisely before you speak.
Congratulations, dear brothers.
Carry a mind that seeks truth, and a heart that seeks God.
Your journey continues.
