Earlier today, we gathered for a meaningful collaboration meeting with the USTP Al-Raid Muslim Student Organization in preparation for the upcoming International Day of Peace on September 21, 2026. The dialogue became a fruitful space for sharing ideas, identifying meaningful initiatives, and exploring opportunities where people of different faiths can come together in the spirit of peace, mutual respect, and solidarity. As we journey toward a more peaceful community, may our shared efforts continue to build bridges of understanding and remind us that peace becomes more meaningful when we work for it together.

As we welcome National Peace Consciousness Month with the theme, “Mapayapang Bukas, Abot-Kamay sa Bagong Pilipinas,” may we renew our commitment to kalinaw, a peace rooted in justice, compassion, dialogue, and respect for the dignity of every person. In Mindanao, where diverse cultures, communities, and faiths meet, may we continue to build bridges of understanding and solidarity, recognizing that a peaceful tomorrow is a shared responsibility.

As the world continues to face conflict, division, and crisis, may we choose dialogue over violence, understanding over hatred, and hope over despair. May the Lord grant peace to Mindanao and the whole world, and inspire us to become instruments of reconciliation and peace.

Kalinaw alang sa tanan. Peace for all.

A Meal for Peace, Higalaay, and Harmony 🤝

Last night, our Muslim brothers and sisters were warmly welcomed to a Peace Meal as part of the celebration of the St. Augustine Fiesta. This annual gathering brings together our friends from different faith traditions to share a meal and celebrate the spirit of peace, higalaay (friendship), and harmony that continues to unite the people of Cagayan de Oro.

We were also blessed by the presence of young people from the USTP Al-Raid officers, with whom we had the opportunity to share the work and impact of peacebuilding initiatives, particularly the importance of young people in building bridges across faiths and communities.

Beyond sharing food, we shared stories, friendship, and a common hope for a more peaceful and harmonious community. May gatherings like this continue to remind us that peace begins when we choose to meet one another as friends, listen with respect, and celebrate what unites us. 🕊️

Day 5 | Last Day of Duyog Ramadan 🌙

Alhamdulillah, we have reached the final day of our Duyog Ramadan journey. Yesterday, we gathered at Sharief Alawe, grateful for the opportunity to once again share presence, dialogue, and solidarity during this sacred month of Ramadan.

For five meaningful days, hearts were opened, friendships were strengthened, and bridges of understanding were built across faiths and communities. Each Masjid visitation reminded us that peace begins with encounter, when we choose to listen, to walk together, and to stand for one another.

The Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro – Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism Ministry remains honored to take part in the Annual Masjid Visitation and Iftar Program organized by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos together with Team Ompia ago Kalilintad.

As we conclude Duyog Ramadan, we celebrate not only the success of this initiative but the spirit of unity that continues to grow in our city.

Peace in Cagayan de Oro is not the work of one group alone, it is a shared mission. We recognize and thank our partners who tirelessly work hand in hand to preserve harmony and security:

the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office,
Task Force Oro,
Muslim Youth Council,
Interfaith Forum for Peace, Harmony, and Solidarity,
Northern Mindanao Ulama League,
and the Local Government of Cagayan de Oro.

Together, we prove that dialogue is stronger than division, and solidarity is more powerful than fear.

May the spirit of Ramadan continue to inspire compassion, respect, and unity among all of us. Padayon sa kalinaw, Cagayan de Oro. 🤍🌙

Day 3 | Duyog Ramadan

Yesterday, we gathered at Masjid Masakin in Mabasa, Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City for the third day of our Duyog Ramadan journey. The presence of the community was truly heartwarming, especially with the many Muslim children who attended and witnessed the visitation.

The Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro – Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism Ministry continues to take part in the Annual Masjid Visitation and Iftar Program organized by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos together with Team Ompia ago Kalilintad.
In the spirit of Duyog Ramadan, we share not only space and meals, but also stories, understanding, and friendship. The presence of interfaith communities in sacred spaces sends a powerful message that peace is possible, that respect can be practiced, and that solidarity transcends religious differences.

Seeing many children present during the visitation reminds us why interfaith dialogue is essential for sustainability. When young minds witness peace-building firsthand, they grow up learning empathy, coexistence, and mutual respect. These lived experiences plant seeds of harmony that can shape a more united and peaceful future.
