Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! The celebration of the Liturgy of Easter Sunday remembers the resurrection of Jesus Christ, three days after his passion and death. When the Angel of the Lord descended over the Earth and rolled back the tomb's opening to reveal towards Mary and the accompanying women an empty tomb, the very same Jesus Christ, renewed of life and vitality has triumphed over death and descent to the dead. The guards, expecting a body at the putrefaction stage, is face-to-face with a tomb meant to house the King of the Jews.
May we perceive Easter Sunday as a celebration of the ultimate sacrifice of the Lord, and the fulfillment of His promise. His appearance to the apostles over a 40-day-period reinforces His physical reality, being one with us in the mortal world even after death. This triumph over the reality of death is a promise to us of a similar renewal awaiting for us in the Kingdom of Heaven.
May we also remember that our very own deaths may as well become a doorway to resurrections in our lives.
