Colossians 3:1–3

Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Keep thinking about things above, not things on earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

we see how a life that chooses the things of God may include the surrender of our heart’s greatest desires.

We do nothing to earn any of the gifts He gives us, but He indeed blesses our obedience. The things we desire should not keep us from praising and obeying God; they should drive us closer to Him, either through fervent and desperate cries for help or through glad and thankful worship.

Galatians 6:7–9

Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows, because the person who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up.

God’s blessing in our lives is two-fold: divine encounters and divine discipline. When God shows us our sin and allows us to repent, it is indeed a blessing. While it may not always feel pleasant or comfortable, God’s discipline is a gift. May we continue to sow in the Spirit and accept the discipline of our loving heavenly Father as we reap a harvest for His kingdom.

How do you feed your spirit when you feel empty?

When Jesus says, “Give us today our daily bread,” he is speaking to more than physical hunger. He knows that people live with all kinds of needs—hunger for peace, for purpose, for hope, for rest. Jesus does not shame our neediness. He meets it.

In John 6:35 after feeding a crowd with five loaves and two fish, Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

We are not just bodies, we are souls. And our souls require nourishment. We often look to productivity, entertainment, or affirmation to satisfy that hunger, but only Christ can sustain us in the deepest places. Just as our stomachs growl when we haven’t eaten, our spirits become restless, anxious, or numb when we’ve gone too long without being fed by His presence.

So, how do we receive daily bread for the soul? We slow down. We sit with the Scriptures. We speak with God honestly. We resist the temptation to fill every empty moment with distraction. We come, not once a week, but daily.

Jesus is the source and sustainer.

What would it look like for God’s will to be done where you live?

When Jesus teaches us to pray, “on earth as it is in heaven,” he connects our present reality with God's eternal purpose. Heaven is a vision of how things are meant to be. It is where justice reigns, where love is perfect, where holiness is complete, and where peace is unshakable. Jesus dares us to believe that this reality can begin here and now.

The early church took this prayer seriously. In Acts 2:42–47, we see a glimpse of God’s will being done on earth—believers sharing everything, caring for the poor, gathering daily in worship, and seeing lives transformed.

This line in the Lord’s Prayer is a call to participation. We are not passive observers waiting for heaven; we are active carriers of it. When we forgive someone, serve someone, or seek righteousness, we are bringing heaven to earth. When we pray for broken systems to be healed and act with compassion, we’re living out the kingdom.

Where do you long to see heaven break in? Begin to ask bold, specific prayers. Ask for God's will to invade those spaces and be willing to step into the answer!
