James 4:7-10
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

(James 4:7)
"Submit yourselves therefore to God."
The first step toward God is

The second part says:
โ€œ๐‘๐„๐’๐ˆ๐’๐“ the devil, and he will flee from you.โ€

(James 4:8-10)
Then James gives us the heart of the passage:
โ€œ๐ƒ๐‘๐€๐– ๐๐„๐€๐‘ ๐“๐Ž ๐†๐Ž๐ƒ, and He will draw near to you.โ€

So let's remember three simple words:
๐’๐”๐๐Œ๐ˆ๐“.
(Give God control.)
๐‘๐„๐’๐ˆ๐’๐“.
(Run away from sin and temptation.)
๐ƒ๐‘๐€๐– ๐๐„๐€๐‘.
(Come closer to God every day.)
