"Because God said it, I believe it."
Luke 5:5 NIV
[5] Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.”
Intro:
The Bible strongly supports the idea of trusting God because He has spoken, even when we don't yet understand everything.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:7
“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty.” — Isaiah 55:11
“Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
— Hebrews 11:1
A very good example is Abraham.
“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” — Genesis 12:1
“So Abram went, as the LORD had told him.” — Genesis 12:4
“Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” — Genesis 15:6
Other Biblical examples:
Noah — God told him to build an ark before there was any evidence of the coming flood. (Genesis 6:13–22)
Moses — God told him to confront Pharaoh and lead Israel out of Egypt, despite Moses' fears. (Exodus 3–4)
Joshua — God told Israel to march around Jericho, and they followed God's unusual instructions. (Joshua 6)
Mary — When the angel told her she would give birth to Jesus, she responded with faith: “I am the Lord’s servant… May your word to me be fulfilled.” (Luke 1:38)
Peter — Jesus told him to put the net into the water again after an unsuccessful night of fishing. Peter said, “Because you say so, I will let down the nets.” (Luke 5:5)
