Mark 1:35โ39 โ Rest, Refill, and Reach Out
1. Pray Before You Serve
"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up..." โ Mark 1:35a
โข Prioritize the Father: Jesus intentionally made time for prayer before the demands of the day began.
โข Relationship Over Duty: Ministry and serving others are important, but your personal relationship with God must always come first.
2. Step Away to Hear God
"...left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." โ Mark 1:35b
โข Create Distance: Stepping away from noise, crowds, and expectations is an act of surrender.
โข Remove Distractions: Silence and solitude create the space needed to hear Godโs voice clearly.
3. Be Filled Before You Pour Out
"Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: 'Everyone is looking for you!' Jesus replied, 'Let us go somewhere elseโto the nearby villagesโso I can preach there also. That is why I have come.'" โ Mark 1:38โ39
โข Seek Restoration, Not Isolation: Jesus didn't stay in the quiet place forever. Prayer was meant to refresh and prepare Him, not hide Him from His mission.
โข Gain Clarity and Direction: Through prayer, Jesus received spiritual strength, renewed focus, and clear direction for His next steps.
๐๏ธConclusion:
You can love and serve others without burning out. Jesus cares deeply about the state of your heart. When you pause to let God fill you first, your dynamic changesโbecause when you acknowledge your weakness and depend on Him, His strength shines through you (2 Corinthians 12:10).
