Pure Religion Project PH x Orphan Sunday - PH Orphan Sunday - Philippines

We are mobilizers/volunteers for the Pure Religion Project - Orphan Sunday in the Philippines. Each event is locally-led.

We advocate for Christian churches to practice the pure religion. Orphan Sunday

On Orphan Sunday, Christians stand for the orphan. We are a people called to defend the fatherless…to care for the child that has no family…to visit orphans in their distress. Sermons and small groups, concerts and prayer gatherings, shared meals and youth activities—each rousing believers with God’s call to care for

the orphan, and what we can do in response. From many sources, one voice. Each November, thousands of events will echo across America and around the globe, all sharing a single goal: that God’s great love for the orphan will find echo in our lives as well. Orphan Sunday is your opportunity to rouse church, community and friends to God’s call to care for the orphan. History

Many churches and organizations have hosted “Orphan Sundays” over the years. With a nationwide Orphan Sunday, the Christian Alliance for Orphans seeks to add a unified voice and coordinated effort to the many worthy efforts that preceded this year. The seeds of this united Orphan Sunday come especially as a gift from the Church in Africa. While attending a church service in Zambia, an American visitor was struck by the pastor’s passionate call to care for orphans in the local community, which had been ravaged by AIDS and poverty. Members of the church faced deep need themselves. But as the service ended, one after another stepped forward with money, food and other goods-some even taking off their own shoes and placing them in the offering for orphans. The visitor, Gary Schneider, was so impacted that he began to help Zambian leaders coordinate Orphan Sunday efforts across Zambia. These efforts spread to the U.S. in 2003 with help from Every Orphan’s Hope and other organizations. (Orphan Sunday is licensed to the Christian Alliance for Orphans as a registered trademark of Every Orphan’s Hope). The Christian Alliance for Orphans honors the church in Zambia for the gift of Orphan Sunday. We pray the church all over the world may be as faithful as our Zambian brothers and sisters to reflect God’s heart for the orphan, both near and far. I am excited to share with you the upcoming webinar Caring for Orphans: Reflections from Adoptive Families on Friday, June 28 at 1pm ET. Scripture clearly calls us to care for the orphan, but beyond adoption and orphanages what might that look like in our everyday lives?

Join parenting author Kayla Craig for a powerful conversation that explores how Christians today can best serve the orphan, with guests: Dr. Lauren Pinkston, Kindred Exchange; Kristin Langrehr, 111Project; and Stephanie Robinson, Faith to Action. Each will share how their experience with orphans and adoption shaped their views on global orphan care, and what they believe are the best ways Christians can be involved today. We hope you will register today and invite someone who is interested in learning about best ways to serve orphaned and vulnerable children!

The webinar will focus on what it means to respond to the Biblical call to serve the orphan, and how we can practically do that in our everyday lives.

Make sure to do that at this link! We will have dynamic stories and great ways to get involved with helping orphans around the world!

We really appreciate it po!

LET THIS SINK IN TO OUR HEARTS AND MIND.

Repost from Ms. Jodi Jackson Tucker Jackson Tucker

Quote by a 30yr old orphan, who aged out of an orphanage where he had lived his whole life. Spoken at the CAFO Summit 2013

“When I grew up in the orphanage it was Christians who came and built nicer buildings. Christians who bought us beds, clothing and provided money monthly for food. It was a Christian, who wrote a letter in a shoebox, who first told me I was loved. It was the Christians who met all my physical and material needs in that orphanage.

But it was also Christians who neglected my biggest need. Children in orphanages don’t need more money, nicer buildings or better clothes. I am not an orphan because I lost my home or provisions. I am an orphan because I lost my parents. I needed a mom and a dad. I needed a family. Christians treated all my temporary symptoms of need but never cured my longterm disease of being orphan. I am still an orphan.”

November 12th is Pure Religion Sunday.

For the past 19 years, the Church has celebrated God’s heart for orphaned and vulnerable children on the second Sunday in November.

Widely known as Orphan Sunday, the inspiration for calling it Pure Religion Sunday comes from James 1:27: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
