Statement From Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly:

In recent days, many Catholics and other people of goodwill have been deeply disappointed by the disparaging comments directed at Pope Leo XIV by the President of the United States. The Successor of Saint Peter is not a politician — he is the Vicar of Christ, entrusted with proclaiming the Gospel and shepherding souls.

The Knights of Columbus has always stood in solidarity with the Holy Father, recognizing in him a spiritual father who calls the world not to division, but to unity, not to conflict, but to peace. In this moment, we reaffirm that commitment with clarity and conviction.

At the same time, we recognize that faithful Catholics can and do engage vigorously in the public square, and that nations have a right and duty to safeguard the security of their own people — always in accordance with the demands of justice and the pursuit of peace. The Church does not ask Catholics to withdraw from civic life, but to engage with and elevate it — bringing to our civic dialogue the light of truth, respect for the dignity of every human person, and a steadfast concern for the common good.

Pope Leo XIV has consistently called for peace, dialogue, and restraint in a world marked by war and suffering. The Holy Father’s words are not political talking points — they are reflections of the Gospel itself. Whether one agrees or disagrees with particular policy judgments, the Holy Father’s prophetic voice deserves to be heard with respect and engaged seriously.

As Knights, we are called to be men of unity, as followers of Christ and patriotic citizens. I encourage all Knights of Columbus to pray for the Holy Father, to pray for civic leaders, and to pray for peace and those working to achieve it. And let us recommit ourselves to charity in our public discourse. May we be known not for echoing the divisions of our time, but for healing them. In a moment of tension, the path forward is not louder conflict, but deeper fidelity — to truth, to charity, and to the Gospel.

"𝗥𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴" 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁

The "roving" wheelchair of the Knights of Columbus Council 15148 has found its 3rd recipient after the previous donee turned-over the said wheelchair, apparently since she has fully recovered. The 3rd recipient is the mother of the person shown in the picture. This wheelchair donation has been an initiative of the Kof C Council since its original owner, a stroke survivor, has donated the wheelchair to the K of C so that whoever might need it will benefit and use the said wheelchair as long as they need it. Praying for the early recovery of the new recipient.

𝗔𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Members of the Knights of Columbus from 𝗣𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗤. 𝗝𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 of the Immaculate Concepcion Parish, 𝗙𝗿. 𝗝𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 of the Sto. Nino Diocesan Shrine and 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 of St. Joseph Cathedral joined the Philippine National Police Police Regional Office 13 and the Butuan City Police Office in a CLEAN-UP Drive at Bugoy's Peak, Purok 8, Brgy. Bonbon, Butuan City. The activity is part of the patriotic obligation of the fourth degree members of the Order.

As we observe this President’s Day, we remember President John F Kennedy, an active Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus of Bunker Hill Council 62 in Charlestown, MA. The Order has been a central aspect of the life of the Church in our country for most of its 250 year history.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟 𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗨𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

Heeding the call of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines(CBCP), and as heralds of hope, we join our voices in condemning to the highest level the anomalies and corruption that have exacerbated the suffering of our brothers and sisters in the midst of this disaster. The lack of effective flood control measures and the blatant disregard for environmental regulations have put countless lives and livelihoods at risk, forgetting or simply ignoring Pope Francis' exhortation for us to be faithful stewards of the Earth as our common home (Laudato Si).
The Holy Bible reminds us that "the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil" (1 Timothy 6:10). We see the devastating effects of unparalleled greed and corruption in the mismanagement of flood control projects where personal gain has come at the expense of the common good. As the prophet Isaiah cried out, "Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed". (Isaiah 10:1-2).
Worth remembering is the instructive Article XI (Accountability of Public Officers), Section 1 of the 1987 Constitution which commands that,
"Public office is a public trust. Public officers and employees must, at all times, be accountable to the people, serve them with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty, and efficiency, act with patriotism, and justice, and lead modest lives."
Clamor for Justice, Transparency and Accountability
We fully share the national sentiment that the just-created Independent Commission for Infrastructure conduct the most thorough investigation into the apparent grand scheme of corruption that has led to this present catastrophe as well as past ones, and in the process sparing no one out of fear or favor. Let no stone be unturned so that the fullest extent of the law be employed to bring justice to those who have participated in this palpably glaring unprecedented degree of corruption. Fiat justitia ruat caelum (Let justice be done though the heavens fall).
Call to Action and Prayer
Furthermore, as manifestation of our prophetic or witnessing function as baptized Christians, we highly encourage members of the Knights of Columbus, their families and friends to join peaceful assemblies, prayer rallies or similar activities as we seek justice, transparency and accountability from our leaders. Let us come together in prayer and in action, to demand that our government takes concrete steps to address the root causes of this disaster and implement structural or systemic changes to hugely curb if not totally eradicate - in all levels - corruption, the decades-long cancer of our society.
We issue this statement this 15th day of September 2025, Memorial of our Lady of Sorrows, in solidarity with the Catholic Church and in the spirit of our founder Blessed Michael McGivney who responded in faith and action to the social ills during his times.
