A sudden surge sent the Bhote Koshi River over its banks, sweeping through villages in Rasuwa district, with Timure and Syabrubesi among the hardest-hit areas. Roads, bridges, and power projects have been damaged, and communication lines in the region have been disrupted. As of this evening, at least 22 people are confirmed dead, and many more remain missing or out of contact, with the numbers still changing as rescue teams reach cut-off communities. Hundreds of travelers, both Nepali and foreign, are still unaccounted for, along with rescue crews and hydropower workers caught in the flood.
According to our superintendent in Nepal, we praise God that our Free Methodist churches and members in Rasuwa are safe. Their communities sit in the mountains rather than along the riverbanks, and the Lord has kept them through this. Even so, their neighbors and district are hurting, and there is much still to pray for.

Pray for those still trapped and still missing, that rescuers would reach them in time.
Pray for the families waiting in unbearable uncertainty for news of the ones they love.
Pray for strength and safety for the soldiers, police, and volunteers carrying out dangerous rescues.
Pray for protection from further flooding and landslides, and for healing for the injured.
Pray for shelter, food, and medical care to reach the cut-off communities quickly.
Pray for comfort for all who are grieving tonight.
And pray that our churches in Rasuwa would be a source of real comfort and hope to their neighbors in the days ahead.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)
Thank you for praying for the people of Nepal and for all those affected by this disaster.
