📖 REFORMATION VS. RESTORATION: A CALL BACK TO BIBLE AUTHORITY
Throughout history, sincere men and women have sought to follow God faithfully. The Protestant Reformation courageously exposed many religious errors and challenged practices that had departed from Scripture. We can appreciate the desire of the Reformers to stand against corruption and to encourage people to read the Bible.
However, the question remains: Is God's will accomplished merely by reforming existing religious systems, or does the Bible call us to restore the faith and practice of the New Testament church?
Jesus warned in Matthew 15:9:
«"In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."»
The issue is not sincerity, tradition, or popularity. The issue is authority. Are we following God's Word or the teachings of men?
The Restoration plea is simple:
✅ Let the Bible be our only rule of faith and practice.
✅ Respect the authority of Christ in all things (Colossians 3:17).
✅ Follow the pattern of the New Testament church (Acts 2:42).
✅ Reject human creeds and traditions that go beyond Scripture (2 John 9).
✅ Seek the unity for which Christ prayed (John 17:20-21).
The New Testament teaches that Christ established one church (Matthew 16:18), purchased it with His blood (Acts 20:28), and remains its only Head (Ephesians 1:22-23). The Lord adds the saved to His church (Acts 2:47), and His Word is sufficient to equip us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Our plea is not, "Back to the Reformers."
Our plea is not, "Back to a denomination."
Our plea is:
📖 Back to the Bible.
📖 Back to Christ.
📖 Back to New Testament Christianity.
As the psalmist wrote:
«"How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word." (Psalm 119:9)»
May we all have the courage and humility to examine everything by the Scriptures and follow wherever God's Word leads.
