Ang Lingkod ng Panginoon (ALNP) or simply Lingkod is a movement of Catholic single professionals and working people dedicated to winning other singles to a full commitment to Jesus Christ and to committed personal relationships with other Christians. As a people who want to be set apart for the Lord, Lingkod members follow a distinct way of life. Thus we strive to have a lifestyle reflective of Ch
ristian values, particularly in the workplace. The activities include prayer meetings, action group meetings, teaching and formation, leadership training, outreaches, social action involvement, and fellowship. Our History
The Catholic Charismatic renewal started when both Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul VI re-affirmed the need for the action of the Holy Spirit in the Church, as in a new Pentecost. The need for renewal and sanctification could only be filled by the Holy Spirit. During the mid-70′s, renewal communities were established in many places in the world. One such group, Ligaya ng Panginoon, was established in the Philippines in 1975 through the help of “The Word of God Community” which was based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ligaya, a Catholic covenant community, started several renewal communities and evangelistic movements to bring the Gospel message to more and more people across the different sectors of society. One such group was Christ’s Youth in Action (CYA), an evangelistic movement aimed at youth in university environments, which was established in 1980. In 1983, the first batch of students who graduated from CYA got together and decided to meet regularly to sustain their relationships and get support from one another. By September of 1984, while holding meetings once a month, they started to call themselves CYA Alumni. In 1985, they began conducting Christian Life Programs in their respective workplaces. By then, their name had changed to CYA Young Professionals. After some time, the group saw the need for a new name to establish their own identity. They sought the Lord and received a word that their name by “Ang Lingkod ng Panginoon” (or The Servant of the Lord) - a title of Jesus from the book of Isaiah. Today, the group is commonly known as Lingkod. Lingkod Butuan's History
