Proverbs 22:6: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

Ephesians 6:4: "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

WHY THE CHURCH OF CHRIST DOES NOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?

Text: John 4:24; Colossians 3:17; 2 John 9

Theme: Worship according to God’s will, not human tradition

INTRODUCTION
Every December, the world pauses to celebrate Christmas. Streets are decorated, songs are sung, and churches hold special services. Often, people ask:
“Why doesn’t the Church of Christ celebrate Christmas?”
This question is not about being against Christ. In fact, it is because we love Christ and His authority that we approach this subject carefully. The issue is not whether Jesus is worthy of honour—He absolutely is—but how and when God has authorized that honour.

THE CHURCH OF CHRIST BELIEVES IN HONOURING CHRIST DAILY
The Church of Christ does believe in Jesus Christ:
We believe He is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16)
We believe He was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:18–23)
We believe He lived, died, was buried, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
But the Bible teaches that Christ is to be honoured every day, not on one special annual holiday.
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
— Colossians 3:17
If Christ is Lord, then every day belongs to Him, not just December 25.

THE BIBLE NEVER COMMANDS OR RECORDS THE CELEBRATION OF JESUS’ BIRTH
One of the guiding principles of the Church of Christ is biblical authority.
We ask:
*Did God command it?
*Did the early church practice it?
"Is there a biblical example of it?

When we search the Scriptures:
We read about Jesus’ birth (Luke 2)
*Angels announced it.
*Shepherds rejoiced.

But nowhere do we find:
A command to celebrate His birth annually.
A church observance of His birthday.
A specified date for His birth
Instead, the Bible places emphasis on remembering His death, not His birth:
“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”
— 1 Corinthians 11:26
The only religious observance Jesus directly instituted was the Lord’s Supper, observed on the first day of every week (Acts 20:7).

CHRISTMAS ORIGINATES FROM HUMAN TRADITION, NOT DIVINE INSTRUCTION
History shows that December 25 was not chosen from Scripture, but from human tradition, influenced by pagan winter festivals.
Jesus warned about religious practices that come from men rather than God:
“In vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”
— Matthew 15:9
The Church of Christ strives to avoid adding to God’s worship:
“Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God.”
— 2 John 9
We are not permitted to invent worship, even with good intentions.

WORSHIP MUST BE ACCORDING TO GOD'S WILL
Jesus said:
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
— John 4:24
Spirit: sincere, heartfelt worship.
Truth: worship according to God’s Word.
Celebrating Christmas as a religious observance goes beyond what Scripture teaches. Silence in Scripture is not permission—it is a call for restraint.

NOT CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS DOES NOT MEAN BEING ANTI-CHRIST
The Church of Christ:
Does not forbid the gatherings of the saints to Honour Christ daily.
*The Church of Christ does not condemn kindness, generosity, or joy in all areas of our lives.
*The Church of Christ does not oppose teaching about Jesus’ birth from Scripture.
But as a church, we do not observe Christmas as a holy day or act of worship because God did not authorize it.

CONCLUSION
The reason the Church of Christ does not celebrate Christmas is simple:
We seek to speak where the Bible speaks.
We seek to be silent where the Bible is silent.
We desire to honour Christ the way He has asked to be honoured
Jesus does not ask for one day a year celebration or remembrance.
He asks for us to keep His commandments always and to live a Christian life wherever we go.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
— John 14:15
May we honour Christ—not by tradition—but by faithful obedience every day.
God bless us all.

Minsan may in-invite kang bisita at gusto mo siyang hintayin.

Bakit kapag may client meeting,
30 minutes to 1 hour before the meeting, andun na tayo?
Bakit kapag sa school, work, at business,
KAYA NATING GUMAWA NG PARAAN PARA MAGING MAAGA?
AT NAGAGAWAN TALAGA NATIN NG PARAAN.

May naaantala.
May nawawala sa momentum.
May nadidistract.

It’s about honor.

2. ANG GINAGAWA MONG “OKAY LANG” SA IGLESIA AY UNTI-UNTING NAGIGING NORMAL SA PUSO MO.
Nagsisimula sa:
“Late lang naman ako minsan.”
Tapos nagiging:
“Sanay na ako.”
Hanggang sa dumating sa point na:
“Hindi ka na bothered.”
At doon nagiging delikado.
