"We firmly oppose graft, bribery, and all forms of corruption," this is the clear call of the Philippine Central Conference-Board of Church and Society (PCC-BCS).
PCC-BCS conducted a prayer gathering at the United Methodist Church Headquarters along United Nations Avenue. The prayer gathering brought together clergy, lay members, and advocates in prayer for the nation and in the collective stand against corruption.
The gathering served as both a spiritual and prophetic response to the growing public concern over corruption in the Philippines, particularly on flood control project anomalies. Prayers for justice and accountability were offered as the Filipino people remain steadfast in seeking transparency and accountability.
The PCC College of Bishops urged United Methodists to remain steadfast in their witness, declaring: "Let us lift up our prophetic voice to call for accountability, and let us not grow weary in doing good for those rendered vulnerable. We encourage participation in collective actions that embody our prophetic witness to the gospel." (PCC-COB Statement: A Kairos Moment: The Church's Prophetic Witness Against Corruption)
The church seeks to embody its witness to the gospel in practical and transformative ways through raising its voice against corruption.
Amos 5:24: "But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream."
