Fr. Jojo Zerrudo is a good priest, faithful, reverent, and sincerely devoted to celebrating the Holy Mass. What many do not know (or choose to ignore) is that he suffers from an eye illness. Because he is mildly blind, he is forced to use a tablet during Mass so he can properly see the prayers and celebrate with care and dignity. That tablet is not a preference. It is a necessity.
Yet instead of compassion, he receives mockery.
Instead of understanding, stones are thrown through harsh words.
Some even go as far as calling him dumb for using a tablet instead of the Roman Missal without knowing his condition, without asking respectfully, without charity.
We forget too easily that priests are human. They carry illnesses, limitations, and heavy crosses, yet they still climb the altar every day out of love for God and His people.
Before we criticize, may we learn to pause.
Before we mock, may we learn to ask.
Before we judge, may we learn to love.
Charity does not end with rubrics.
Reverence is empty without mercy.
If we cannot defend our priests, at the very least, let us not crucify them with our words.
🙏
