Daily Prayer

O Saint Agatha, you made the vow of virginity to Jesus, offering to him your life when you were still young. You kept this vow of virginity in your heart, refusing your suitors ’advances. You were beautiful and innocent and many came seeking your heart. You refuse them all. Your love for Jesus was overwhelming desire. Such love was dangerous, when being a Christian was criminal act. Remember us dear saint, your followers in these difficult times, when vows to virginity are broken easily and many young people are following hedonistic lifestyle. May Jesus be the love of our life and our strength as we confront the many sicknesses of our times, especially cancers, you are the patroness of women who suffer from breast cancer. Grant us, through your intercession, a cure to this sickness and help us carry its pain. Amen.

Day 9 Novena

The artist painted your image, holding your bloodied breasts on a plate—a reflection of the unspeakable pain and suffering you endured for your faith. With deep compassion, we turn to you now, mindful of the many women in our time afflicted by breast cancer.
Like you, they have faced the loss of their breasts, enduring physical pain and emotional anguish caused by this dreaded disease. Through your powerful intercession, we lift up their intentions at the close of this novena.
Saint Agatha, we humbly ask you to whisper our pleas for healing into the ears of Jesus. We feel helpless before this illness that has devastated countless families, but we trust in the mercy and healing power of God.
Have pity on these women, dear Saint, and grant them the grace to overcome their suffering. May they be restored to health, strength, and peace, and may their lives return to a sense of normalcy and joy.

They only became Christians after your death when the courage of their daughter convinces them that Jesus is worth dying for. You evangelized your family by your death. Teach us, dear saint that the first place we should announce Jesus is in our homes and families. Inspire us to believe that best testimony we can share to our love ones is our converted and committed lives to Jesus. Through your intercession, may we also be able to evangelize our families. O Saint Agatha, you died forgiving the people who killed you. You never bore anger toward them even when they slicing and burning your young body. You followed Jesus till the end, full of forgiveness and compassion. We at times keep in our hearts resentment and anger toward people who harmed us. Through your intercession, we ask you to teach us how to forgive so we remain free as you were free. Teach us to know that resentments and anger ruin both our souls and bodies, and we should forgive because forgiveness wipes away the poison of hatred. Amen.

O Saint Agatha, you proclaimed the name of Jesus while in prison, and your torturers were simply shocked to hear you speaking sweetly about Him. Your suffering in Jesus’ name became your witness. You shone among the prisoners and your captors respected you. It was said that after your death, many of the prison guards became Christians. You showed to them that dying for Jesus was worthwhile and best that any person can do with his life. O dear saint, may your witness to Jesus continue to shine in our times. Remember all the suffering women, especially those dying from cancer of the breast. May they know how to carry their pain in the name of Jesus and be witness of His presence. Amen.

Third Day Novena

Daily Prayer

O Saint Agatha, you made the vow of virginity to Jesus, offering to him your life when you were still young. You kept this vow of virginity in your heart, refusing your suitors ’advances. You were beautiful and innocent and many came seeking your heart. You refuse them all. Your love for Jesus was overwhelming desire. Such love was dangerous, when being a Christian was criminal act. Remember us dear saint, your followers in these difficult times, when vows to virginity are broken easily and many young people are following hedonistic lifestyle. May Jesus be the love of our life and our strength as we confront the many sickness of our times, especially cancers, you are the patroness of women who suffer from breast cancer. Grant us, through your intercession, a cure to this sickness and help us carry its pain. Amen.

Day 3 Novena

O Saint Agatha, you lived during the persecution of Emperor Decius, where many prominent Christians were not able to withstand the tortures and renounce their faith. Yet you resisted, even when your breasts were cut off. You were determined to remain a faithful spouse of Jesus and stood firm in your vow to virginity. Through your intercession, dear saint, enable us to stand firm in our faith though our environment is full of corruption. Make us true Christians in our peace of work, and help us be able to withstand the offer of easy money in the name of Jesus. Amen.
