Gospel: Matthew 16:24 to 28 | The Conditions of Discipleship

Lord, You invite me to take up my cross and follow You. Teach me that love often requires sacrifice and that true greatness is found in humble service. Give me the courage to choose kindness instead of comfort, forgiveness instead of resentment, and hope instead of despair. Bless everyone who carries heavy burdens today, especially persons deprived of liberty, their families, and those who walk beside them. May our crosses become paths that lead us closer to You and to one another. Amen.

Lord Jesus, on the mountain Your glory was revealed, reminding the disciples that hope shines even before the cross. When life becomes difficult, and I cannot see the way forward, help me remember that You are transforming me each day. Let Your light reach those living in darkness, especially our brothers and sisters in prison who long for healing, forgiveness, and a fresh beginning. May Your presence renew our strength and inspire us to continue walking in faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May every person who feels forgotten discover that Your compassion reaches beyond every barrier. Fill me with patient faith that continues to hope because You are always faithful. Bless prison communities, volunteers, and all who accompany those seeking transformation. May our hearts remain open to Your healing grace each day. Amen.

Lord Jesus, there are days when fear feels stronger than faith. Like Peter, I often lose courage when I focus on the storms around me instead of Your presence beside me. Hold my hand whenever I begin to sink into doubt, anxiety, or discouragement. Strengthen all who face uncertainty, especially those living in prison and those waiting for healing and restoration. Help us trust that You never abandon us, even in the darkest waters. Keep our eyes fixed on You, our source of hope. Amen.

Loving Father, You remind me that life is more than the possessions I keep. Teach me to value people more than wealth and compassion more than success. Free my heart from selfishness so I may become generous with my time, my gifts, and my love. I pray especially for persons deprived of liberty, their families, and those who journey with them. May we all discover that true riches are found in mercy, forgiveness, and relationships rooted in Your love. Lead me to store up treasures that last forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Lord, today I remember the courage of Saint Alphonsus Liguori and the faithful witness of John the Baptist. Give me the grace to stand for what is true even when it is difficult. When I am tempted to remain silent in the face of injustice, strengthen my heart to choose love, mercy, and truth. Bless all those behind prison walls who long for a new beginning. May they discover that Your mercy is greater than every failure and that Your love never gives up on them. Help me become a companion of hope for those who feel forgotten. May everything I do bring greater glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Through the example of St. Martha, teach me to balance action with prayer and service with contemplation. Bless caregivers, volunteers, prison ministers, and all who quietly serve others. May their work be strengthened by faith, hope, and love. Amen.
