𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 | 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Verse: Job 1:1-12

[𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥: 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭]

In a normal legal court setting, there are three main elementsm

1. The Prosecution - the proponents of the case
2. The Defense - the counsel ror the respondent/accused
3. The Judge - the authority of the court who has the jurisdiction over the case

In this case, the court setting is in the presence of the Lord. The unique element of this case was not only the session was in "Heaven" but the session also started in the absence of the respondent, Job.

𝟭. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧 v1-5

In a normal court setting, the respondent is presented as the accused in the trial. The prosecutor usually portrayed the involvement of the respondent in an act in violation a law, a statue, an ordinance.

In this case, the respondent Job was presented as blameless and upright. A man who serves the Lord faithfully (v8). Also, the respondent was mentioned with his family and wealth.

In the same manner, in the church, when a worker is presented as a respondent, he must have a due process according to 1 Timothy 5:19 and Deuteronomy 17:6.

In our Christian faith, we are blessed because we do not face spiritual accusations alone, we have the Advocate which is Christ (1 John 2:1)

𝟮. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗧𝗢𝗥 v9-11

In a normal court setting, the prosecutor has the burden to present (1) the elements of the crime, (2) the participation of respondent of the crime committed, and (3) the burden of evidence.

In this case, the Prosecutor was no other than Satan himself. He accused Job of (1) fearing God because of the blessings he received and (2) the protection he benefited from the God (v9-10 and see also Job 2:4-5)

Take note, one of the names of Satan means Opposer (v1-7, only in verse 5 Satan's name was not mentioned

In the temptation of Jesus, Satan was named as the Tempter Matthew 4:3, and the Devil which means the Accuser (Matthew 4:5, 8, and. 11)

The Thief (John 10:10), the Murderer and Father of Lies (John 8:44) and many more.

𝟯. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗝𝗨𝗗𝗚𝗘 v6,8,12

In a normal court setting, the Judge is the legal authority of the court. The Judge has the absolute power and jurisdiction in accordance with the law. He can contempt, pronounce verdict, pardon, and exercise full power of the law.

In this case, the Judge, the Lord has the Sovereign Rule. His decisions were NOT based on human or angelic information, insight, suggestion, reaction, or recommendation.

The Lord may have granted the petition of Satan, but the Lord maintains the rulings of each petition (Job 1:12 and Job 2:6)

When God created the world and everything in it. Scripture says, "And God said" (Genesis 1). When our salvation was purchased the elements were described with the pronouns HIS (Ephesians 1:1-13)

Proverbs 16:9 "The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.

Proverbs 19:21 ESV
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

His words are final and executory as the scripture says, "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)

𝟰. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

Uncontested Sovereignty: In heaven, God's will be executed perfectly, immediately, and without resistance. Praying "on earth as it is in heaven" is our affirmation of God's rule, plan, term and condition.

In real life, "Satan prosecutes but the Sovereign Lord presides."

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

When life feels out of control, remember that no earthly trial reaches your life without first being submitted TO THE SOVEREIGN GOD.

To be a teacher is to be a vessel in God’s hands—teaching, guiding, and inspiring young lives for His glory. Through every lesson and every life they touch, may teachers continually say, “Use me, Lord.”

Verse: Job 1:1-22

[𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐑]

This unnoticeable war is incapable of being seen or perceptible by nature. There is an area of conflict that goes on around us and within us that we cannot see. I am referring to the conflict that happens in the spiritual realm.

We are all engaged in spiritual warfare, even if we don’t realize it. This war cause many casualties. In this text, we are allowed to catch a glimpse of the spiritual warfare that occurred in Job’s life.

When trials come our way, we always seem to forget that God is behind our hurts and that He has a plan in our pain.

As we go through the message, please remember that just like Job, we are engaged in battle with a spiritual enemy who seeks our destruction; but like Job, we have One with us who is able to strengthen us, keep us and see us through any battle we may find ourselves engaged it.

𝟭. 𝗨𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗬 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 (v.1-5)

1. Job’s Character
Job was a man of purity, integrity, and holiness. He was a man who lived his life in the fear of the Lord

2. Job’s Commodities
He was wealthy and he was blessed. The Lord had honored Job by giving him great riches and a large, loving family. The blessings of God were clearly apparent in his life.

3. Job’s Commitment
Job served the family priest. He loved his children and he prayed for them, offering sacrifices to temporarily atone for their sins. Job was a man committed to the Lord and to his family.

4. Job’s Consistency
Job wasn’t a part time believer. He lived this way every day of his life. Every day was spent in holy living, in avoiding sin, in seeking God for others and in living out his relationship with his Lord.

All these things make Job an unlikely candidate for trouble and suffering. Most people have the idea that we suffer for wrongdoing. But no.

No one is immune to suffering. No one is above the hurts and problems that come in our way.

𝟮. 𝗨𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗧 (v. 6-12)

While Job is living his life out on the earth, events are taking place in Heaven; events that Job cannot see, and is not privy to. That same conflict still goes on today.

1. A Heavenly Assembly
The angelic beings make an appearance before God’s throne.
2. A Heavenly Acknowledgement
3. A Heavenly Accusation

𝟯. 𝗨𝗡𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗩𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗦

As much as he can, Satan unleashes Hell in Job’s life. In one incredible, heartbreaking, unbelievable day, Job saw nearly everything he loved and lived for taken away.
He became a victim of theft and destruction of everything he has.

God is the source of this situation. God allowed the things Satan did.

1. Scope of this Crisis
As this crisis in Job’s life unfolds, he hears of the theft and destruction of everything he has worked his whole life to accumulate. This crisis is total and it is devastating.
He lost his fame, family, friends, and fitness.
He is not only broken but also battered. There is nothing left of his former glory.

2. Sorrow of this Crisis
Just when Job thought things could not get any worse, the most devastating news of all reached his ears and ripped his heart from his chest. He was told that all ten of his children were dead, having been killed at one time when the house they were in collapsed upon them.

3. Source of this Crisis
Do you think it is a mere coincidence? Mo, this is all a part of God’s plan.

𝟰. 𝗨𝗡𝗙𝗔𝗭𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧

1. Job’s Reaction
Job shaved his head and tore his garment. These reactions are signs of intense mourning. Surely, his heart is broken.
Grief and pain became a part of his life.

2. Job’s Response
When Job does speak, he does not attack the Lord. When Job does speak, he offers praise to the Lord for the blessings he has enjoyed. Job has no words of condemnation, only words of exaltation. His response is to submit to the will of God.

3. Job’s Realization
Job understands that everything he ever had came to him from the hand of God.
Job understood that he was what he was, and he had what he had by the grace of God.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡

Every blessing, every trial, every advance and every setback is just the hand of God working in our lives to bring us to a place of submission, and absolute Christlikeness.

𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐂𝐇 | 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂

In every season, God remains faithful. When life changes and circumstances are uncertain, His presence gives us strength, peace, and a reason to keep trusting. Through every joy and every trial, still, He is God, still He is faithful, and still He is with us.

[𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐲]

Have you ever felt that God is distant? Like He’s not there. It is a common experience and one that can leave us feeling lost and alone. h the truth is even when God seems absent, He is still active.

When God seems silent and distant, He is not absent.

𝗜. 𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
- We see how God orchestrate in all events. He protects his people and brings deliverance.
- When God’s seems distant, it opens a life of spiritual winter. It is a normal season of spiritual testing rather than abandonment.
- Absence is not abandonment but rather a tool God uses to deepen our faith and teaches us to walk on His promises rather than changing emotions.
- Hope in God is never misplaced. In all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.
- Even though we don’t see it, God is always working. His plans are bigger than what we can see in the moment.
- God is more concerned in building your faith than your feelings. The deepest level worship is loving and trusting him even when He feels far away.
- This is a powerful reminder that even when God seems absent, He is still active. He is still working behind the scenes, guiding and directing our lives. We may not always understand His ways or His timing, but we can trust that He is always with us, even in the darkest of times.

𝗜𝗜. 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗼𝗱
- When God seems distant, it's easy to withdraw, to pull away from Him and from others. But the book of Esther teaches us the importance of drawing near to God, even in the midst of our doubts and struggles. It’s in those moments of seeking Him that we can find comfort, strength, and renewed hope.
- We can draw near to God through prayer, through reading His Word, and through fellowship with other believers. These are the ways in which we can experience His presence and find the reassurance we need in times of uncertainty.

𝗜𝗜. 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀
- When God seems absent, it's easy to forget His faithfulness and His love for us. But His promises remain true, even when our circumstances may suggest otherwise.
- God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is faithful to His promises, and He will never leave us or forsake us. By holding fast to His promises, we can find hope and peace in the midst of our struggles.
- Even when we cannot feel his presence, his promises remain the same. He is with us. Our emotions will change, but God’s faithfulness does not.

𝗜𝗩. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀
- When God seems absent, it’s easy to isolate ourselves, to withdraw from community. But it’s in community that we can find support, encouragement, and the reminder that we are not alone.
- By surrounding ourselves with fellow believers, we can be stirred up to love and good works.
- We can find strength, and stories and testimonies of others, and we can be reminded of God’s faithfulness in their lives.
- Together, we can navigate the challenges of life and find hope in the midst of uncertainty.
- God’s presence is not dependent in our feelings.

𝗩. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
- He is still guiding, protecting, and delivering His people. And we can find hope in His presence, even in the darkest of times.
- So if you're feeling like God is distant, take heart. Draw near to Him, remember His promises, and connect with others.
- In doing so, you will find the hope and reassurance you need to navigate the challenges of life.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
Silence is not absence, neglect, or rejection; it is often a deliberate, active pause used to deepen trust, build character, and prepare the vessel for His next assignment.

To delight in the Lord is to find joy that the world cannot give, peace that remains through every storm, and hope that continues to bloom in every season. When our hearts rest in Him, we are reminded that He is the source of our greatest joy and the fulfillment of our deepest desires.

“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” — Psalm 37:4

𝗜. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 (V1-3)
a. The Biblical Context: The chapter opens by showcasing his absolute wealth and dominion. He throws a 180-day display of his kingdom's riches, followed by a 7-day feast with unlimited wine.
b. XERXES AND HIS FATHER: DARIUS THE GREAT - AFTER CYRUS THE GREAT DIED CHAOS FOLLOWED, Darius successfully stabilized the empire, claimed the throne and married Attosa, the daughter of Cyrus the Great.
- Darius suffered a humiliating defeat against the Athenians IN the Battle of Marathon (490 BC). he died of an illness in 486 BC before he could launch HIS REVENGE — passing the unfinished war, and the throne, down to his son AHASUERUS/Xerxes.
c. XERXES AND HIS FATHER: ARTAXERXES - her mother’s identity was debated by the scholars. he was the same king whom Nehemiah served as the cupbearer (Nehemiah 2:1)

𝗜𝗜. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗘𝗡 (V10-12)
a. The Biblical Context: On the seventh day, a highly intoxicated King Ahasuerus commands his seven eunuchs to bring Vashti out before drunken crowd of nobles, wearing her royal crown, to showcase her physical beauty. Vashti firmly refuses to comply.
b. Vashti and the Persian Culture: In ancient Persian culture, nobility placed an incredibly high value on royal dignity and privacy. According to Herodotus notes that Persian men routinely paraded their lower-status concubines at feasts, a primary queen was expected to remain secluded and highly respected.
c. Vashti and the Persian Nobility: Bringing the queen out unescorted to appear before a massive, intoxicated crowd of thousands of men was considered a profound, disgraceful humiliation. Vashti wasn’t just throwing a tantrum; she was defending her basic dignity as the reigning queen of the empire.

𝗜𝗜𝗜. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗪 (V13-15)
a. The Royal Consultation - Humiliated by Vashti’s refusal, King Ahasuerus turns to his supreme advisory cabinet: the seven wise men and princes of Persia and Media
b. The law of the Persians and the Medes – v19
c. The law of the Medes and the Persians – Daniel 6:8, 6:12, 6:15
d. The law was completely irreversible & irrevocable. Once a decree was issued by the king it could not be repealed by anyone including the king himself (Esther 1:9, Daniel 6:8, 12, 15).
e. The Medes - Originally allied with the Assyrian Empire, they partnered with Babylon and destroy Assyria. until they partnered with Persia to overthrow their former Babylonian ally.
- Through every imperial shift, the Medes successfully traded old alliances for greater political power.
- This was the same Medes who came to Jerusalem (Matthew 2).

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
In the entire Book of Esther, God appears silent. There are no prophets, no priests, and no religious festivals recorded. In fact, it is the only book in Scripture that never mentions the name of God or Lord.

Yet, beneath this surface silence, the unseen hand of God works independently and flawlessly within the kingdom of men.

"If God can orchestrate the rise and fall of empires while remaining completely silent, can you trust His sovereign hand when He is silent in your life?"
