THE REVELATION OF ONE TRUE GOD — JESUS CHRIST
👉1. Psalm 110:1 —
“The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”
Many people think this means two Gods or two divine persons — but David, being a prophet, was seeing a future revelation of how the invisible God (YHWH, “the LORD”) would manifest Himself in flesh as the Messiah (“my Lord”).
👉Jesus Himself explained this in the New Testament:
Matthew 22:42–45
Jesus asked, “What think ye of Christ? whose son is he?”
They say unto him, The son of David.
He saith unto them, “How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord…”
If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?”
👉 Meaning: David recognized that the Messiah (Jesus) would not be just a man or his descendant — but the LORD Himself coming in flesh.
So “The LORD said unto my Lord” means God’s divine plan speaking to His own future manifestation as the Messiah.
It’s not two Gods talking — it’s God’s Spirit declaring His purpose in time.
👉2. The Baptism of Jesus — The Voice, the Dove, and the Son
Matthew 3:16–17
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
👉At first glance, this looks like three different persons — but let’s understand the manifestation:
👉The Son (Jesus) — God in human flesh, standing in the water.
👉The Spirit like a dove — symbol of God’s Spirit anointing His human body for ministry.
👉The Voice from heaven — the same Spirit speaking, affirming His plan.
👉These are not three separate beings, but one God revealing Himself in three ways at the same moment —
just as light can shine, give heat, and reveal color all at once — yet it is still one light.
2 Corinthians 5:19
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself.”
The invisible God (Spirit) was not another in heaven — He was the same Spirit that came down and filled the body of Jesus Christ.
The voice was the Spirit’s witness of His own incarnation.
👉 So the baptism shows one God revealing Himself:
The Father (Spirit)
The Son (flesh)
The Holy Spirit (power of God working)
—all united in one divine being — Jesus Christ.
👉3. On the Cross — “My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?”
Matthew 27:46
“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
👉Many think this means there is another God separate from Jesus —
but remember, Jesus was both fully God and fully man (John 1:14).
At that moment on the cross, He was suffering as a man — the Lamb of God bearing the sins of the world.
The human nature (the Son) cried out in anguish because the Spirit of God had to allow Him to experience death like any human would.
He wasn’t talking to another God, but expressing the pain of separation between His humanity and His divine Spirit as He carried our sin.
2 Corinthians 5:21
“For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”
It’s like when your spirit leaves your body at death — the body feels forsaken, but it’s still you.
So Jesus, as the man Christ, felt the weight of sin and death — yet as God, He was reconciling the world to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).
After His resurrection, that separation no longer existed —
He rose glorified, one eternal God-man, holding all power.
Matthew 28:18
“All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.”
👉. One God in Different Manifestations, Not Persons
Son Redeemer, God in Flesh-John 1:14
Holy Spirit-Indwelling Power of God John 14:26
👉1 John 5:7
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
The key phrase is “bear record” — meaning to testify, to bear witness, or to give evidence.
👉 It speaks of three divine witnesses, not three divine persons.
The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit all agree together as one truth — that Jesus Christ is the revelation of the one true God.
Supporting Verses:
John 1:1, 14 —
“In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was made flesh.”
👉 The Word became Jesus Christ.
John 10:30 —
“I and my Father are one.”
Ephesians 4:4–6 —
“There is one Spirit… One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all…”
So, the “three that bear record” simply means the threefold testimony of the one God, not three separate beings.
It’s like water that can exist as ice, liquid, and v***r — three forms, one substance.
God revealed Himself as Father (Creator), Word (Son), and Spirit (indwelling power) — all one and the same Spirit.
👉 They are not three Gods, but one God revealing Himself in different ways.
👉The apostles understood this perfectly — that’s why they baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, for He is the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9).
