Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God | December 31, 2025

On the night of December 31, 2025, our community gathered in the quiet of the late evening for a deeply spiritual celebration of the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. The 10:00 PM Mass, presided over by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Eduardo Inacay, was a beautiful way to offer the final hours of the year to the Lord through the heart of our Blessed Mother.

As we listened to the Gospel of Luke, we were invited to look at the humble scene in Bethlehem. We reflected on how Mary "kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart." In a world that is often loud and fast, Mary’s example taught us the value of silence and prayer—reminding us to treasure the many ways God has worked in our lives throughout the past year.

As the clock neared midnight, we stood together to honor the Holy Name of Jesus and to ask for Mary’s maternal protection. It was a moment of true peace, entrusting our hopes, our families, and the coming year to the one who said "yes" to God’s plan of love.

Thank you to everyone who spent the transition into the New Year in prayer. May the Blessed Mother always lead you closer to her Son, and may the peace of Christ fill your hearts throughout 2026!

Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God | December 31, 2025

On the evening of December 31, 2025, our parish family gathered to welcome the new year by celebrating the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Francis Abella, as we honored the woman who gave her "yes" so that the Savior could be born into our world.

Following the Gospel of Luke, we reflected on how the shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and the Child lying in the manger. We meditated on the beautiful image of Mary, who did not just witness these great things, but "kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart." Her quiet strength and deep faith remind us to hold onto God’s promises as we move into a new year.

In this celebration, we also remembered the circumcision and naming of Jesus, the name that brings us hope and salvation. As we stood at the threshold of 2026, we asked for the maternal protection of our Blessed Mother to guide us in the way of peace.

It was a spiritual and peaceful way to end the year—entrusting our past, our present, and our future to the hands of God through Mary. May her intercession bring abundant blessings and grace to all your families in the year ahead!

Family Day | December 27, 2025

On December 27, 2025, our parish family gathered in a beautiful spirit of unity for the Family Day 2025 Celebration at Saint James the Great Parish - Bolinao. This special day was held in anticipation of the Feast of the Holy Family, reminding us that our homes and our parish are places where God’s love grows.

The celebration began with a Holy Mass presided over by our Parochial Vicar, Rev. Fr. Francis Abella. Through the liturgy, we were invited to look at the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as our guide for living with patience, kindness, and faith. Following the Mass, our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Eduardo Inacay, opened the program with a heartfelt message, welcoming everyone to this day of fellowship.

The air was filled with energy and joy as the Parish Youth Ministry and the Ministry of Altar Servers led the community in lively performances and animations. The afternoon continued with fun-filled games that brought smiles to both the young and the old. We also took a moment to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation during the awarding ceremony for the Ministry of Ecology’s Garden Contest, followed by a meaningful gift-giving activity that shared the warmth of Christmas with one another.

It was a day that truly celebrated the true meaning of being a family in Christ—supporting one another, playing together, and sharing our blessings. We look back on this celebration with grateful hearts, inspired to make our own families a reflection of the Holy Family’s love.

Bukas Palad Music Ministry Christmas Concert | December 13, 2025

On December 13, 2025, a beautiful sense of grace filled the air as our community gathered at Saint James The Great Parish - Bolinao for a special Christmas Concert. We were truly blessed to be joined by the Bukas Palad Music Ministry, whose songs of praise and devotion touched every heart.

The evening was a significant milestone for our parish as we officially launched our Bell and Parish Hall Project. It was more than just an event; it was a momentous step forward in our shared journey of faith. We reflected on how every note sung and every person present contributed to both the spiritual and physical foundation of our community.

This gathering reminded us that we are not just building structures of stone and wood, but a lasting legacy of hope for the generations to come. The concert served as a powerful prayer in song, bringing us closer together as we work toward a common goal. We look back on this night with deep gratitude for the music, the fellowship, and the commitment of everyone who joined us in this holy endeavor.

Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord | December 25, 2025

On the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord, our parish family gathered with great joy to celebrate the birth of Jesus. The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Francis Abella, as we opened our hearts to the wonderful story of God coming to be with us.

We reflected on the beautiful truth that the Word became flesh and made His home among us. This day reminded us that Jesus is the "True Light" who came to take away the darkness in our lives and show us the way to the Father. By becoming a small, humble baby in a manger, God showed us just how much He loves us, inviting us all to become His children.

As we looked at the image of the Holy Child, we were reminded that the real meaning of Christmas is God’s presence in our lives. We felt a deep sense of peace knowing that we are never alone. May the simple joy and light we found in the manger stay with you and your families throughout this season and into the new year.

As we begin the countdown toward the end of the year, we are invited to look upon time with the eyes of faith.

For us, history is not a random or meaningless sequence of events, but a sacred journey from a definite beginning to a promised fulfillment.
It is the human pilgrimage from Creation to the end of all time, to the glorious second coming of Christ. At the heart of this historical journey stands Christ Himself, the Lord of history and the Lord of time. As Saint John Paul II reminded us,"the birth of Christ is the center of all human history."

In the mystery of the Incarnation, God made His definitive entrance into our human story.
The Eternal One entered time and space, and this saving event forever altered the course of humanity once bound toward perdition, humanity was given a new direction, toward redemption and life. And so tonight, as we thank God for the year now past and entrust to Him the days that lie ahead, we ask Mary, the Mother of God, to walk with us. May she lead us always to the heart of her Son, the Prince of Peace, and teach us to carry Christ into the new year with trust, courage, and hope.

Our Story

Saint James the Great Parish, was canonically erected in the year 1609 when the Augustinian Friars took over this mission territory which was earlier entrusted by the Spanish Colonial Government to the Dominican Friars in the year 1594 and left the place in the year 1607 due to the vastness of their mission territories and the scarcity of their missionary members.

The Church tower of Bolinao measuring seventy-five (75) feet was then the tallest in the whole Pangasinan if not in the entire Northern Luzon. However, an earthquake in 1788 toppled about half of it. Then in 1819, the Church Convent was also accidentally burned.

The church was made out of black coral stones. It is in High Renaissance style. One feature of the church is its trefoil arch main door. The overall design of the facade is plain and simple with the super-positioned columns alternating with window openings and tall blind arches conspicuously dominating the ends of the walls.

In front of the church is a marker stating that the first Mass on Philippine soil was celebrated in Bolinao Bay in 1324 by a Franciscan missionary, Blessed Odorico of Pordenone, O.F.M.
