CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in the Heart of the Mother of God,

As the stars brighten and the world grows still to welcome the Prince of Peace, my heart turns to each of you—our dedicated family within the World Apostolate of Fatima. This holy season is a time of profound wonder, where we gaze upon the Child in the manger and see the visible face of God’s love.

At the heart of the Christmas story is the Fiat of our Blessed Mother. Mary’s obedience was not a mere following of rules, but a total, loving surrender to the path God had laid out for her. She trusted that the Father’s plan, voiced through His messengers, was the surest way to bring Christ into the world.

As your Spiritual Director, I invite you to reflect on this "Marian spirit of listening." When we walk in harmony with the directions of our local Church and the order of our Apostolate, we are not just being "organized"—we are being like Mary. By embracing a spirit of humble cooperation and unity in our common life together, we create a peaceful dwelling place where the Holy Spirit can truly work. Let our obedience be our Christmas gift to the Lord, proving that we are souls who trust the shepherds He has placed over us.

The message of Fatima is more relevant now than ever as we stand before the crib of Bethlehem. I exhort you, dear members, to let the core values of our Apostolate breathe life into your celebrations:
• In Prayer: Let your daily Rosary be the "lullaby" you offer the Infant Jesus, interceding for a world in need of His mercy.
• In Penance: May our small daily sacrifices and the setting aside of our own preferences be the soft straw we lay down to comfort the Savior.
• In Consecration: As the Shepherds and Magi gave their best, let us renew our total gift of self to the Immaculate Heart, becoming beacons of purity and hope in our parishes.

May the light that shone over the stable at Bethlehem illuminate your homes and your hearts. May you find great joy in the simple act of serving one another in love and unity, always keeping our Mother’s example as your guide.

I wish you all a Christmas filled with the deep, interior peace that only Christ can give.

Yours in the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
(Sgd.) REV. FR. JONEL R. LOGROÑO

“While the message of Our Lady of Fatima is a motherly one, it is also strong and decisive. It invites to repentance. It gives a warning. It calls to prayer. It recommends the Rosary. The message is addressed to every human being.” — Pope St. John Paul II (13 May 1982)

Pope John Paul II is very known to be a fervent devotee of Our Lady of Fatima. After surviving the assassination attempt on his life in Saint Peter’s Square on 13 May 1981, the Pope attributed this to the protection of Our Lady. He offered the bullet that struck him to the Sanctuary of Fatima and was embedded to the crown of Our Lady in 1984.

During his pontificate, John Paul II underlined the importance of the Message of Fatima in today’s world. On the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord 1984, he consecrated all individuals and peoples of the World to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which Sr. Lucia later confirmed, by all means, accomplished the conditions for the conversion of Russia.

With his heath declining, he beatified Francisco and Jacinta Marto, two of the shepherd children, and revealed the third part of the message of Our Lady. He linked this revelation to the assassination attempt of May 1981 in Rome of which he survived saying many times that “a mother’s hand” had deviated the trajectory of the bullet.

It was also during his Papacy when the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Valenzuela City was consecrated as a National Shrine in 1982. His Papal Legate to the Philippines, Most Rev. Bruno Torpigliani, D.D., was the principal consecrator during the ceremony. He visited the Philippines as Cardinal Wojtyla in 1972 and as Pope John Paul II in 1981 and 1995. A pallium used by the pope was offered to the National Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima in May 2018.

Like Pope St. John Paul II, may we have complete trust to Our Lady of Fatima, surrendering ourselves to her maternal protection. Inspired by her message more than 100 years ago, let us allow the Blessed Mother to be our refuge and way that leads to God.

Pope St. John Paul II, pray for us.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.
