๐ŸฅฐCFD GOSPEL OF THE DAY
Monday โ€“ July 20, 2026
๐Ÿ“– Gospel: St Matthew 12:38โ€“42
+++
๐Ÿ’ž38Then certain ones from the scribes and the Pharisees responded to him, saying, โ€œTeacher, we want to see a sign from you.โ€ 39And answering, he said to them: โ€œAn evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign. But a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40For just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights, so shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. 41The men of Nineveh shall arise in judgment with this generation, and they shall condemn it. For, at the preaching of Jonah, they repented. And behold, there is a greater than Jonah here. 42The Queen of the South shall arise in judgment with this generation, and she shall condemn it. For she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold, there is a greater than Solomon here.

๐ŸฅฐTheme: "No sign will be given except the sign of Jonah."
๐Ÿ’žThe scribes and Pharisees asked Jesus for another sign to prove who He was. But Jesus reminded them that the greatest sign would be His Death, Burial, and Resurrectionโ€”the Sign of Jonah. Like Jonah spent three days in the belly of the great fish, Jesus would spend three days in the tomb before rising again.

๐Ÿ’ž๐ŸŒฟ Reflection
God has already given us the greatest sign of His love: Jesus Christ crucified and risen. Instead of always asking for extraordinary miracles, let us recognize His presence in His Word, the Holy Eucharist, prayer, and the blessings we receive each day. A heart of faith sees God's hand even in ordinary moments.

๐Ÿ™ Short Prayer

Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith so that I may trust You even when I do not see extraordinary signs. Help me believe in Your Resurrection and follow You with all my heart. Amen.

Gospel: St Matthew 13:24โ€“43
Theme: The Wheat and the Weeds
+++
24He proposed another parable to them, saying: โ€œThe kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25But while the men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds amid the wheat, and then went away. 26And when the plants had grown, and had produced fruit, then the weeds also appeared. 27So the servants of the Father of the family, approaching, said to him: โ€˜Lord, did you not sow good seed in your field? Then how is it that it has weeds?โ€™ 28And he said to them, โ€˜A man who is an enemy has done this.โ€™ So the servants said to him, โ€˜Is it your will that we should go and gather them up?โ€™ 29And he said: โ€˜No, lest perhaps in gathering the weeds, you might also root out the wheat together with it. 30Permit both to grow until the harvest, and at the time of the harvest, I will say to the reapers: Gather first the weeds, and bind them into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather into my storehouse.โ€™ โ€ 31He proposed another parable to them, saying: โ€œThe kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field. 32It is, indeed, the least of all seeds, but when it has grown, it is greater than all the plants, and it becomes a tree, so much so that the birds of the air come and dwell in its branches.โ€ 33He spoke another parable to them: โ€œThe kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of fine wheat flour, until it was entirely leavened.โ€ 34All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the crowds. And he did not speak to them apart from parables, 35in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet, saying: โ€œI will open my mouth in parables. I will proclaim what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.โ€ 36Then, dismissing the crowds, he went into the house. And his disciples drew near to him, saying, โ€œExplain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.โ€ 37Responding, he said to them: โ€œHe who sows the good seed is the Son of man. 38Now the field is the world. And the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom. But the weeds are the sons of wickedness. 39So the enemy who sowed them is the devil. And truly, the harvest is the consummation of the age; while the reapers are the Angels. 40Therefore, just as weeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the consummation of the age. 41The Son of man shall send out his Angels, and they shall gather from his kingdom all who lead astray and those who work iniquity. 42And he shall cast them into the furnace of fire, where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43Then the just ones shall shine like the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.

๐ŸฅฐReflection
Jesus reminds us that good and evil exist side by side in this world. Rather than judging hastily, He calls us to patience, trust, and perseverance. God sees every heart and, at the proper time, He will bring about perfect justice. Our task is to remain faithful and bear good fruit for His Kingdom.

+++โœ๏ธ
Lord Jesus, help me remain faithful amid the trials and temptations of this world. Strengthen me to grow as good wheat in Your Kingdom and to trust in Your perfect justice. Amen.

๐Ÿ’ž14Then the Pharisees, departing, took council against him, as to how they might destroy him. 15But Jesus, knowing this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he cured them all. 16And he instructed them, lest they make him known. 17Then what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah was fulfilled, saying: 18โ€œBehold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will place my Spirit over him, and he shall announce judgment to the nations. 19He shall not contend, nor cry out, neither shall anyone hear his voice in the streets. 20He shall not crush the bruised reed, and he shall not extinguish the smoking wick, until he sends forth judgment unto victory. 21And the Gentiles shall hope in his name.โ€

๐ŸŒฟ Reflection
The Pharisees plotted to kill Jesus, yet He did not respond with anger or revenge. Instead, He quietly withdrew and continued healing those in need. Jesus fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy as the gentle and humble Servant of God who brings hope, justice, and mercy to the world.
This Gospel reminds us that true strength is found not in retaliation but in love, patience, and trust in God. We are called to imitate Christ by responding to hatred with kindness and by becoming instruments of peace wherever we go.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

St. Camillus de Lellis, pray for us! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž

๐ŸŒฟ Who Was St. Camillus?
St. Camillus de Lellis was once a soldier who experienced a profound conversion. He dedicated the rest of his life to caring for the sick, the poor, and the dying. He founded the Order of the Ministers of the Sick (the Camillians), whose members cared for patients with compassion and dignity, especially during times of plague and war.
He is the patron saint of the sick, hospitals, nurses, and healthcare workers.
โœจ Lesson from His Life
St. Camillus teaches us that serving the sick is serving Christ Himself. Every act of compassion, no matter how small, is precious in God's eyes.

๐Ÿฅฐโœ๏ธ Gospel of the Day
St Matthew 12:1โ€“8
+++
๐Ÿ’ž1At that time, Jesus went out through the ripe grain on the Sabbath. And his disciples, being hungry, began to separate the grain and to eat. 2Then the Pharisees, seeing this, said to him, โ€œBehold, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbaths.โ€ 3But he said to them: โ€œHave you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him: 4how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? 5Or have you not read in the law, that on the Sabbaths the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath, and they are without guilt? 6But I say to you, that something greater than the temple is here. 7And if you knew what this means, โ€˜I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,โ€™ you would never have condemned the innocent. 8For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath.โ€

๐ŸฅฐTheme: "I desire mercy, not sacrifice."
Jesus reminded the Pharisees that God's law is meant to bring life, mercy, and loveโ€”not to burden people with legalism. He declared that "the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath," revealing His divine authority and teaching that compassion is at the heart of God's will.

๐Ÿ’› Short Reflection: Jesus invites us to have a heart full of mercy. Following God's commandments is important, but true holiness is shown when we love, forgive, and help others. May we never judge quickly, but imitate the compassionate Heart of Christ.

๐Ÿ™ Prayer

Lord Jesus, teach me to love with mercy. Help me to obey You with a sincere heart and to show kindness and compassion to everyone I meet. Amen.

๐Ÿ’žSaint Alexius is remembered for his remarkable humility and detachment from worldly honors. According to ancient tradition, he left behind a life of wealth to dedicate himself completely to God. He lived in obscurity and accepted hardship with patience, becoming a witness to humility and total trust in the Lord.

๐Ÿ’› Lesson from St. Alexius: True greatness is not found in fame or riches but in faithfully loving and serving God with humility.

๐ŸฅฐGospel of the Day
St Matthew 12:46โ€“50
+++
46While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, behold, his mother and his brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak with him. 47And someone said to him: โ€œBehold, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, seeking you.โ€ 48But responding to the one speaking to him, he said, โ€œWhich one is my mother, and who are my brothers?โ€ 49And extending his hand to his disciples, he said: โ€œBehold: my mother and my brothers. 50For anyone who does the will of my Father, who is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."

๐Ÿ’ž Reflection
Jesus was not rejecting His mother. Rather, He revealed a profound spiritual truth: the closest relationship with Him is built on faith and obedience to the will of God.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is the perfect example of this. She became the Mother of Jesus not only because she gave birth to Him, but because she faithfully responded, "Let it be done to me according to your word" (Luke 1:38). Her life shows us what it means to be a true disciple.

๐Ÿ’žToday, Jesus invites each of us to become part of His family by listening to God's Word, trusting Him, and living according to His will every day. Every act of love, forgiveness, humility, and obedience brings us closer to Christ.

๐Ÿ™Prayer
+++โœ๏ธ
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to be a member of Your family through Jesus Christ. Give me a heart that listens to Your Word and the courage to do Your will each day. May I follow the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary with faith, humility, and love. Help me to reflect Christ in all that I say and do. Amen.

Hail Mary..
