Today's Devotional: "When God Stands Still For You"
Joshua 10:12, 14 GW
"The day the Lord handed the Amorites over to the people of Israel, Joshua spoke to the Lord while Israel was watching, โSun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, stand still over the valley of Aijalon!โNever before or after this day was there anything like it. The Lord did what a man told him to do, because the Lord fought for Israel.
REFLECTION:
Imagine this: in the middle of a battle, Joshua looked up and prayed the boldest prayer in the Bible โ โSun, stand still!โ
Hindi ito basta prayer for rain or peace. This was a prayer for more time, more daylight, to finish what God started. And God answered.
Verse 14 says something wild: โThe Lord did what a man told him to do, because the Lord fought for Israel.โ
God paused the universe for His people. Why? Because He was fighting for them. The battle wasnโt Joshuaโs โ it was the Lordโs.
APPLICATION:
๐A. Pray bold prayers
--Joshua didnโt pray safe. He prayed specific, impossible, faith-filled prayers. Minsan we pray small because we doubt how big God is. But our God can stop the sun. Nothing is too hard for Him.
James 5:16 โThe prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.โ
๐B. Remember whoโs really fighting for you
--The reason God answered was โbecause the Lord fought for Israel.โ It wasnโt about Joshuaโs anointing. It was about Godโs love and covenant.
If God is for you, sino pa ang kalaban mo? Romans 8:31" Youโre not fighting alone."
๐C. God honors faith that partners with Him
--Joshua spoke, then God acted. Faith isnโt passive. Pray, then move. Ask God for โextra daylightโ in your season โ extra time, extra strength, extra provision โ to finish what He started in you.
Challenge:
โ1. Ask boldly
- Whatโs one โSun stand stillโ prayer youโve been afraid to pray? Pray it today.
โ2. Rest and Calm
-Stop striving like the battle is all on you. Declare: โLord, You are fighting for me.โ
โ3. Obey in faith
-After praying, take one step of obedience. God honors action.
Thought:"God can pause time for His purpose. And when He fights for you, no enemy can stand."
The same God who stopped the sun is still fighting for you today โ๏ธ๐
๐คฒPRAY:
Lord Jesus, teach me to pray bold like Joshua. Forgive me for limiting You with small prayers and small faith. Today I ask You: give me more time, more strength, more grace to finish what Youโve started in my life, family, and ministry. I remember โ You are the One fighting for me. Do what only You can do. I trust in You. In Jesusโ name, Amen
