Bible Paradox What looks like conflict in Scripture is often a doorway to deeper revelation, not confusion.

I humbly ask believers around the world to join us in prayer for the Philippines and especially for our leaders during this impeachment process, may God give them wisdom, courage, humility, integrity, and discernment to seek truth and justice beyond political color, personal interest, or party loyalty, as Scripture says, “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad”, 1 Kings 3:9 KJV, let us pray that God will guide every decision maker, protect our nation from division and injustice, and lead the process toward what is truthful, lawful, and beneficial to the Filipino people, Amen.

GREATER THAN EVERYTHING

VERSE:
HEBREWS 1:4 KJV
“Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”

INTRODUCTION:
Hebrews declares the absolute superiority of the Son, Christ is not merely another messenger from heaven, He is greater than angels and possesses a name beyond theirs, His supremacy rests in who He is and in the divine authority given to Him.

EXEGESIS:
1. “BEING MADE”
The Greek ginomai means to become or come into a particular state, the phrase does not mean Christ became divine, rather His exaltation is being described in relation to His completed saving work.

2. “SO MUCH BETTER”
The Greek kreittōn means better, superior, or more excellent, Hebrews repeatedly uses this word to establish Christ's superiority over the old covenant realities and heavenly messengers.

3. “THAN THE ANGELS”
The Greek angelos means messenger, angels are glorious servants of God, but they remain servants, the Son possesses a unique status that no angel possesses.

4. “BY INHERITANCE”
The Greek klēronomeō means to inherit or receive as an inheritance, Christ receives the promised royal name according to God's divine appointment and sonship.

5. “A MORE EXCELLENT NAME”
The Greek diaphoros means different, distinct, or superior, Christ's name is not merely another title, it expresses His unique dignity and authority above angelic beings.

6. “THAN THEY”
The comparison is deliberate, Hebrews establishes a clear distinction between Christ and angels, Christ is the Son, angels are ministers, the Son possesses the higher name and authority.

EXPOSITORY:
1. CHRIST IS GREATER THAN ANGELS
Angels serve God, but Christ is the Son, Scripture never places the Son on the same level as created heavenly messengers.

2. CHRIST'S SUPERIORITY IS ESSENTIAL
Christ is not greater merely because of position, His superiority flows from His identity as the divine Son, the entire argument of Hebrews rests upon His unique person.

3. CHRIST'S NAME CARRIES AUTHORITY
A name in biblical thought represents identity, status, and authority, the Son possesses a name that establishes His supremacy.

4. CHRIST IS GREATER THAN RELIGIOUS MEDIATORS
The Hebrews audience knew angels as associated with divine revelation, yet the Son is greater, therefore no created mediator can occupy Christ's place.

5. CHRIST IS GREATER THAN HUMAN POWER
Earthly authority is temporary, angelic authority is created, but Christ's authority belongs to the eternal Son, therefore nothing created can rival Him.

6. CHRIST DESERVES WORSHIP
Hebrews 1:6 commands the angels to worship Him, the Son is not merely an object of God's service, He is worthy of worship.

7. CHRIST MUST BE FIRST
If Christ is greater than angels, He must also be greater than our fears, traditions, ambitions, possessions, and personal priorities, nothing can occupy the place that belongs to Him.

CONCLUSION:
Christ is greater than everything, greater than angels, greater than every created authority, and greater than every human priority, His name is supreme, His person is unique, and His authority is eternal, therefore trust Christ, worship Christ, and place Christ above everything.

THE WORD IS GOD

VERSE:
JOHN 1:1 KJV
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

INTRODUCTION:
John takes us before creation and reveals Christ as the eternal Word, Jesus did not begin at Bethlehem, He existed before creation, He was with God, and He was God, therefore the gospel begins not with the birth of Christ but with His eternal deity.

EXEGESIS:
1. “IN THE BEGINNING”
The Greek en archē means in the beginning, John deliberately echoes Genesis 1:1, but he reaches beyond the beginning of creation, the Word already existed when creation began.

2. “WAS THE WORD”
The Greek ēn means was, an imperfect form of eimi, indicating continuing existence, John does not say the Word came into existence in the beginning, He already was.

3. “THE WORD”
The Greek Logos means word, message, reason, or expression, John uses it to identify Christ as the eternal self revelation of God, the One who will be revealed as Jesus Christ.

4. “THE WORD WAS WITH GOD”
The Greek pros ton Theon carries the idea of being with or toward God, it indicates personal distinction and relationship, the Word is not the Father, yet He eternally exists with God.

5. “THE WORD WAS GOD”
The Greek Theos ēn ho Logos directly declares the deity of the Word, Theos identifies the nature of the Word, while ho Logos identifies the person, John presents the Word as truly divine.

6. THE WORD WAS ETERNAL
John uses ēn, not egeneto, for the Word's existence, later in verse 14 he says, “the Word was made flesh,” egeneto, showing the distinction between eternal existence and incarnation

EXPOSITORY:
1. CHRIST DID NOT BEGIN AT BETHLEHEM
Bethlehem reveals His incarnation, not His beginning, before He entered human history, the Word already existed eternally.

2. CHRIST IS DISTINCT FROM THE FATHER
“The Word was with God” shows personal distinction, Christian confession does not confuse the Son with the Father, yet it equally refuses to deny the Son's deity.

3. CHRIST IS TRULY GOD
“The Word was God” is not a statement of mere resemblance, John identifies the Word with divine nature, Christ possesses true deity.

4. CHRIST IS THE ETERNAL WORD
The Logos is not a created messenger who appeared later, He existed before creation, creation itself came through Him according to John 1:3.

5. CHRIST REVEALS GOD
The Word makes God known, Jesus is not merely a teacher speaking about God, He is the divine Word through whom God is revealed.

6. THE INCARNATION DOES NOT CANCEL HIS DEITY
John 1:14 declares that the Word became flesh, becoming human did not mean ceasing to be divine, the eternal Word entered human existence.

7. FAITH MUST CONFESS CHRIST CORRECTLY
If the Word is God, Jesus cannot be reduced to merely a prophet, teacher, angel, or human messenger, the text calls us to receive Him according to His true identity.

CONCLUSION:
The Word was in the beginning, the Word was with God, and the Word was God, Jesus Christ is eternal, personally distinct from the Father, and truly divine, therefore worship the Son, trust the Son, and confess with Scripture, the Word is God.

REST FINDS CHRIST

VERSE:
HEBREWS 4:11 KJV
“Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

INTRODUCTION:
God calls His people to enter His rest, yet entering that rest requires persevering faith, the danger is not that Gods promise has failed, the danger is that unbelief can keep the heart from trusting His promise, true rest is found by faith in Christ.

EXEGESIS:
1. “LET US LABOUR”
The Greek spoudazō means to be diligent, earnest, or make every effort, this does not mean earning salvation by works, it describes serious perseverance in faith.

2. “THEREFORE”
The Greek oun means therefore, so then, it connects verse 11 with the promise of Gods remaining rest, because the promise stands, believers must respond with persevering faith.

3. “TO ENTER”
The Greek eiserchomai means to enter, the language is personal and active, Gods rest is not merely information to understand, it is a promise to enter by faith.

4. “INTO THAT REST”
The Greek katapausis means rest, resting place, or cessation, the demonstrative ekeinēn points back to the specific rest promised by God, this is Gods rest, not merely physical relief.

5. “LEST ANY MAN FALL”
The Greek piptō means to fall, the warning is serious, spiritual privilege does not remove the necessity of persevering faith.

6. “AFTER THE SAME EXAMPLE”
The Greek hypodeigma means example, pattern, or warning example, Israel's history becomes a living warning for the church, hearing Gods promise without believing it is spiritually dangerous.

7. “OF UNBELIEF”
The Greek apeitheia carries the sense of disobedience arising from unbelief, Hebrews connects unbelief with refusing Gods word, faith therefore produces perseverance and obedience.

EXPOSITORY:
1. REST REQUIRES FAITH
God's rest cannot be entered through religious performance alone, faith receives Gods promise and perseveres in it.

2. REST IS NOT PASSIVITY
“Let us labour” shows that biblical rest does not mean spiritual laziness, the believer diligently continues in faith while resting in Gods provision.

3. UNBELIEF IS THE DANGER
Israel heard Gods promise but failed to enter because of unbelief, the warning remains powerful, hearing the gospel is not the same as trusting Christ.

4. CHRIST IS THE CENTER OF REST
Hebrews continually directs the believer toward Christ, our great High Priest, access to Gods presence rests upon Him, not upon human merit.

5. RELIGIOUS WORKS CANNOT REPLACE FAITH
Human effort cannot manufacture Gods rest, Christian diligence is the fruit of faith, not a payment that purchases salvation.

6. PERSEVERANCE PROTECTS AGAINST FALLING
The warning calls believers to remain steadfast, true faith does not treat Gods promise casually, it clings to Christ through testing.

7. THE PROMISE STILL STANDS
Hebrews 4:9 says, “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God,” the invitation remains, therefore the church must continue looking to Christ and trusting His promise.

CONCLUSION:
Rest finds Christ because Christ is the One through whom we approach God, labor diligently in faith, refuse unbelief, hold firmly to His promise, and enter the rest that God provides, our confidence is not in our works but in Christ.

DAYS BELONG CHRIST

VERSE:
ROMANS 14:8 KJV
“For whether we live, we live unto the Lord, and whether we die, we die unto the Lord, whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.”

INTRODUCTION:
Paul moves the believer beyond arguments about days and directs the heart toward belonging to Christ, the deepest question is not which day controls us, but whether Christ controls our whole life, every day belongs under His Lordship.

EXEGESIS:
1. “WHETHER WE LIVE”
The Greek zaō means to live, Paul describes the whole existence of the believer, ordinary life is not outside Christ’s authority.

2. “WE LIVE UNTO THE LORD”
The phrase tō kyriō zōmen means we live for the Lord, Christ is not merely included in life, He becomes its direction and purpose.

3. “WHETHER WE DIE”
The Greek apothnēskō means to die, Paul reaches even into death, showing that Christ’s Lordship does not stop at the boundary of earthly life.

4. “WE DIE UNTO THE LORD”
Death itself is brought under Christ, the believer does not belong to himself in life or death, Christ remains Lord in both.

5. “WE ARE THE LORD’S”
The Greek tou kyriou esmen means we are the Lord’s, esmen means we are, this is a statement of belonging, identity is established by relationship to Christ.

EXPOSITORY:
1. EVERY DAY BELONGS TO CHRIST
If our lives belong to the Lord, then no day exists outside His authority, the Christian does not divide life into sacred moments and ordinary moments where Christ is forgotten.

2. CHRIST IS GREATER THAN CALENDAR DISPUTES
Romans 14 places differing convictions under the greater reality of Christ’s Lordship, the calendar must never become more important than the Savior.

3. LIFE IS CHRIST’S
Our time, strength, work, worship, decisions, and relationships are not independent possessions, they belong under the Lordship of Christ.

4. DEATH IS CHRIST’S
Paul does not treat death as ultimate defeat for the believer, even death remains within the Lord’s possession, Christ is Lord beyond the grave.

5. BELONGING COMES BEFORE DOING
The believer does not earn belonging through religious performance, we live for Christ because we are the Lord’s, obedience flows from belonging.

6. FREEDOM MUST HONOR CHRIST
Christian freedom cannot become self worship, whether observing a day or regarding every day alike, the governing question remains, is Christ being honored.

7. THE LORD MUST BE THE CENTER
Romans 14:8 destroys self centered Christianity, life is not ultimately about what I prefer, what I defend, or what I observe, it is about belonging to Christ.

CONCLUSION:
Days belong Christ because we belong Christ, life belongs Christ, death belongs Christ, and every day stands beneath His Lordship, therefore do not let the calendar become greater than the King, live for Him, die in Him, and remember, we are the Lord’s.
