In the Catholic faith, the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament given to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or facing major surgery.

It involves a priest anointing the person with blessed oil while praying for them. This sacrament provides:

* Spiritual healing and strength
* Forgiveness of sins (if the person cannot confess)
* Comfort, peace, and courage in suffering
* Sometimes even physical healing, if it is Godโ€™s will

It is not only for the dyingโ€”it is meant to support anyone seriously sick in body or mind.

Good Friday is a day of mourning, as we remember the passion and death of Jesus Christโ€”who, within a single day, was betrayed, denied, condemned, mocked, and crucified. He endured it all willingly, out of His boundless love for us.

Like Peter, we too deny and turn away from Him, especially in moments of fear and hardship. Yet even then, Christ remains faithful, never letting us go.

As we reflect on His sacrifice, may we repent from our sins and trust in His mercyโ€”the same love that, through the Cross, brought us salvation.

What is the Altar of Repose?

After the Mass of Holy Thursday, something striking happens: the Blessed Sacrament is carried in procession to a special place called the altar of repose.

This is not just a ritual detailโ€”it is deeply symbolic.
The altar of repose represents the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus Christ went to pray in agony before His arrest. Just as the disciples were asked to โ€œwatch and pray,โ€ Catholics are invited to spend time in silent adoration before the Eucharist.

For Catholics, this is a powerful moment of intimacy. The same Jesus who suffered in the garden is truly present in the Eucharist, waiting for us.

The main altar is stripped and left bare, reminding us that Christ is about to be handed over. The Church enters into a spirit of solemn waiting.

To non-Catholics: this is not symbolic presence. Catholics believe Jesus is truly present in the Eucharistโ€”Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.

Tonight, donโ€™t rush away.

Stay with Him. Watch with Him. Pray with Him.

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciationโ€”a reminder of Godโ€™s saving plan unfolding through Maryโ€™s faithful โ€œyes.โ€ ๐Ÿ™

When the Angel Gabriel appeared to her, Mary was troubledโ€”uncertain, questioning, and human, just like us. Yet in the midst of confusion, she chose to trust. In the Annunciation, Mary teaches us two things:
๐Ÿ’™ ๐—™๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต โ€” She believed that nothing is impossible with God, entrusting herself fully to His will.
โณ ๐—ง๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด โ€” She accepted not only Godโ€™s plan, but also His perfect time.

As we honor Mary today, may we also learn to turn our โ€œWhy me?โ€ into โ€œyesโ€โ€”with faith, trust, and courage. ๐ŸŒธ
