As we celebrate the Feast of our beloved patron, San Roque, the Ministry of Altar Servers of San Roque Parish joins the entire parish community in honoring a life dedicated to faith, service, and compassion.
San Roque (St. Roch) was a Christian pilgrim who devoted his life to helping those suffering from the plague. He cared for the sick and, according to tradition, even healed many through his prayers and compassion. When he himself became ill, he withdrew into the forest, where a dog faithfully brought him bread and stayed by his side.
His life reminds us of the importance of serving others, especially those who are suffering and in need.
As altar servers, we can look to San Roque as an example of what it means to serve with a willing and humble heart. Like San Roque, we are called not only to serve during the Holy Mass, but also to show kindness, patience, compassion, and love toward others.
Every time we approach the altar, we are reminded that our service is ultimately offered to God. May the example of San Roque inspire every altar server to serve with reverence, discipline, humility, and joy, both inside and outside the church.
May San Roque guide us in our ministry and help us become faithful servants of God and His people.
On this special feast, we pray for our parish, our families, our fellow altar servers, and all those who are sick and in need of healing.
