HUMBLE YOURSELF
“For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 14:11

There are two ways to attain high esteem. One is the world’s method: Take every opportunity to promote yourself before others; seize occasions for recognition and manipulate your way into the center of attention.

The other way is God’s way: Humble yourself. Rather than striving for recognition and influential positions, seek to put others first. Cultivate humility, for it does not come naturally. One of the many paradoxes of the Christian life is that when God sees your genuine humility, He exalts you.

Proverbs 16:18 warns that if we put our efforts_into promoting ourselves, we will be brought down. Jesus told of a man who tried to enhance his own image (Luke 14:7-11). While attending a banquet, he immediately claimed the seat of honor. When the host saw this, he humiliated this man by asking him to move to the least honorable place to make room for a more distinguished guest. Jesus said the wise thing to do is to seek the lowest position and allow others to exalt you if they feel you are worthy.

There is an enormous difference between the way the world honors you and the way God does. Proverbs 25:27 indicates that glory is not legitimate if you seek it yourself. When the world exalts you, you are the one who receives the credit. When God exalts you, others will praise Him for what He has done in your life. If you honor God, He will honor you (1 Sam. 2:30). Strive to humble yourself and bring glory to God. Allow Him to be the One to honor you in the way that pleases Him!

BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD

Paul warned Christians: "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world" that are usually selfish and often corrupting. Wise Christians decide that much worldly behavior is off-limits for them. Our refusal to conform to this world's values, however, must go even deeper than just behavior and customs; it must be firmly planted in our mind: "Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think." It is possible to avoid most worldly customs and still be proud, covetous, selfish, stubborn, and arrogant. Only when the Holy Spirit renews, reeducates, and redirects our mind are we truly transformed.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6

Paul divides people into two categories: those who are dominated by their sinful nature, and those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit. All of us would be in the first category if Jesus hadn't offered us a way out. Once we have said yes to Jesus, we will want to continue following him, because his way brings life and peace. Daily we must consciously choose to center our life on God. Use the Bible to discover God's guidelines, and then follow them. In every perplexing situation, ask yourself, What would Jesus want me to do? When the Holy Spirit points out what is right, do it eagerly.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

You have His Name, His Spirit, His blood, His covenant, His promises, His gifts, His Word, His love, His authority, His faith and the keys of His kingdom. You are an overcomer! -BB

Delight in His Word, Seek Him and Prosper!

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Mt. 6:33)

God desires to see His children enjoy His abundance. That abundance begins within, in our re-born spirits. Everything we need to accomplish our purpose on this earth and to be a blessing to others can be found within once we are born again. Just as our words can bring forth and create good things from this inner treasure, our devotion to His Word will also release success and prosperity in our lives. Even under the covenant of the Law, God promised prosperity. We have a better covenant established upon better promises! If we will delight in the Word of the New Covenant and let it fill our hearts and mouths, God’s abundance will fill us and spill over into the lives of others.

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. Wealth and riches will be in his house. (Ps. 112:1,3)

Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. (Deut. 29:9)

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (Josh. 1:8)

As long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper. (2 Chron. 26:5)

Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. (Psalm 35:27)

He brings out those who are bound into prosperity. (Ps. 68:6)

Wherever he turns, he prospers. (Prov. 17:8)

But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered. (Prov. 28:25)

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 2)

Let prosperity rule within through the Word and it will make its way into your life in every area, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, and in your resources. All of the promises of God are ‘yes’ and ‘amen!’ -BB
