Three Things:
1. WHEN you meet trials of various kinds - not "IF" but "WHEN".
Testing is inevitable. We will surely experience it though our testing may at times be different one from another.
2. Count in all joy.
We are commanded how to respond to these trials - that we delight it all these trials.
But why? how are we to delight if we are experiencing trial, and oftentimes the suffering and pain associated with it.
3. For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
These trials are not merely trials, they are also tests to our faith. And the purpose of these tests is to produce steadfastness in us. In other version, steadfastness is translated endurance. These words both mean that a person is not swerved from his loyalty to faith by the trials or sufferings. It is like the picture of a mountaineer, who despite the challenges along the way - the trail, the heat, the sweat, the hunger, the thirst - continues to make a step forward setting his focus on the prize and not on the distractions.
So, when we come to face these trials, let us rejoice as we allow these trials to develop a steadfastness within us.
