It is the Lord!

A Retreat for Our Easter Journey

Session 2

Grace to Ask

Jesus, I beg for the grace of overwhelming joy and rejoicing, knowing well that through your Resurrection you have conquered sin, evil, and death itself and that in God’s own time—all shall be well.

Scripture

Matthew 28: 16–20 | Mark 16: 15–20 | Luke 24: 13–35 | John 11: 17–44 | Ephesians 2: 1–10

Points for Prayer and Reflection

• Do a contemplation on the Easter story, either the Commission of the Disciples or the Emmaus story. Imagine Galilee or Emmaus and enter prayerfully into the Gospel scene, beholding the place and the disciples there. What do you see? Hear? Smell? Touch? Taste? Spend time going into the details of this part of our Lord’s resurrection and slowly, in the end, focus on him and gaze lovingly at his face.

• With our risen Lord meeting his disciples in Galilee and in the end, even missioning them into the world to baptize and teach, he must have felt much faith and hope in them. Enter into the sacred heart of our risen Lord and just feel his deep faith and hope in his disciples.

• In Matthew 28: 7–16, the place Galilee is mentioned thrice. Interestingly, our Lord dies and rises in Jerusalem but he insists that his disciples meet him in Galilee immediately after the resurrection. From the Gospels we know that Galilee was a most special place for our Lord and his disciples. This was where they met one another, spent much time with one another, becoming close and intimate with one another. In short, Galilee was the place where they created beautiful, happy memories with one another. What have been your “Galilee” experiences with the Lord (i.e. memorable places and moments of intimacy and closeness with him)? Name and clarify them and relive them in your prayer.

• The Emmaus story starts with the two disciples complaining and despairing. However, the entire story ends with these same two disciples trusting and hoping in the Lord. Right now, in what areas of your life do you find yourself complaining and despairing? Why these particular areas? What do you think you need to do for you to shift from doubt to faith, discouragement to hope, desolation to consolation?

• Dialogue with the Lord on all the points above. Thank him for sharing his gift of presence and mission to you and to the world, as seen in and through the Easter story.

It is the Lord!

A Retreat for Our Easter Journey

Session 1

Grace to Ask

Jesus, I beg for the grace of overwhelming joy and rejoicing, knowing well that through your Resurrection you have conquered sin, evil, and death itself, and that in God’s own time—all shall be well.

Scripture

Mark 16:1–8 | Matthew 28:1–10 | Luke 24:1–12 | John 20:1–10 / John 20:11–18 | 1 Peter 1:3–9

Points for Prayer and Reflection

• Do a contemplation on the Easter story with the women at the tomb. Imagine the tomb area and enter peacefully into the Gospel scene, beholding the place, the women, and the disciples there. What do you see? Hear? Smell? Touch? Taste? Spend time going into the details of this part of our Lord’s resurrection, and slowly, in the end, focus on him and gaze lovingly at his face.

• With our Lord being raised by the Father, in the Spirit, he must have felt intense joy and gladness. Enter into the sacred heart of our Risen Lord and just feel and dwell on his profound sense of exultation and rejoicing.

• Feel much triumph and glory for our risen Lord as you contemplate him on his Resurrection—the Son of Man who has been raised up by the Father, and who is now exalted in God’s right hand, and yet at the same time whose Spirit is very much present in our world today and even indwelling in each one of us (1 Cor 3:16).

• Surely no other witness to the Easter story must have felt our Lord’s great consolation more than his Mother Mary. Imagine prayerfully our risen Lord with much consolation, appearing to Mary. Enter the immaculate heart of our Lady and just feel much of her deep sense of elation and jubilation, celebrating with her.

• Right now, is there anything you feel worth celebrating in your life. Name them and clarify them. When ready, take time just celebrating these and rejoicing with the risen Lord.

• Dialogue with the Risen Lord on all the points above. Thank him for his constancy and faithfulness as seen in and through the Easter story.

𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐬𝐤

Jesus, I beg for the grace of steadfastness and devotion to my God, knowing well that in religious life, in the end, what He truly desires are not my achievements, not my successes, but my fidelity.

Scripture

Exodus 3:4–14 | Sirach 2:1–11 | Acts 20:17–38 | 2 Tim 1:6–14

Points for Prayer and Reflection

• Go back to your vocation story. How did you end up entering religious life? What were the key events that led you to enter? Who were the significant persons instrumental in fostering and clarifying your religious vocation? Go back to these and relish them in your prayer.

• When were those times when you felt most authentically religious? What were you doing? Who were with you? What values were you trying to express and live out? Return to them and relive them in your prayer.

• What aspects of religious life do you treasure the most? (e.g. ongoing formation, community life, prayer, studies, mission and apostolate, vows, spirituality) Name and clarify them and take time treasuring them in your heart.

• What tensions and difficulties have you experienced when living out the vows? Why these in particular? What do you do to manage these tensions and difficulties?
• Pray over Acts 20:17–38. Here St. Paul makes his famous statement: “There is more happiness in giving than receiving.” How has this statement of St. Paul been true in your life as a religious? Go back to those times when you experienced “more happiness in giving than receiving” and relish them in your heart.

• Take these five points above: vocation story, times when you felt most truly a religious, aspects of religious life you treasure, tensions when living out the vows, and experience of greater happiness in giving than receiving. Dialogue with the Lord on each of them.

• What were you most grateful for, given your religious vocation? Name and clarify these.

• Take time thanking the Lord for your vocation and in the end, simply rest in His love.

APRIL 12 l FEAST OF THE DIVINE MERCY

Divine Mercy Sunday Reflection

On this sacred Feast of Divine Mercy, we are reminded that God’s love is not limited by our sins, failures, or weaknesses. Like the Risen Jesus who appeared to His disciples despite their fear and doubt, He comes to us today—not to condemn, but to forgive, to heal, and to restore.

When Jesus Christ showed His wounds, it was not to remind them of their betrayal, but to reveal the depth of His mercy. Those wounds became a source of peace: “Peace be with you.” This is the same mercy offered to us—gentle, patient, and overflowing.

In our daily life—especially in community—misunderstandings, hurts, and weaknesses are part of our human journey. Yet Divine Mercy invites us to look beyond faults and choose compassion over judgment, forgiveness over resentment, and love over indifference.

Like Saint Faustina Kowalska, who trusted deeply in God’s mercy, we are called to surrender everything to Him and repeat with faith:
“Jesus, I trust in You.”
Today, let us open our hearts to receive His mercy and become instruments of that same mercy to others—through kind words, understanding hearts, and forgiving spirits.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Divine Mercy, pour Your love upon us. Teach us to trust You more each day, to forgive as You forgive, and to love as You love. May our lives reflect Your mercy to everyone we meet. Amen.
