Happy Sabbath everyone
The image of the potter and the clay is one of the most beautiful pictures of our relationship with God. Clay does not shape itself. It does not argue with the potter or insist on becoming something different. It simply yields to the hands that know exactly what it can become. Many times, we hold tightly to our own plans, opinions, and desires. We want to control the direction of our lives. Yet God sees far beyond what we can see. The Potter knows every weakness that needs strengthening, every rough edge that needs smoothing, and every part of our character that needs His transforming touch. His work is never meant to harm us but to prepare us for His purpose. And how amazing it is that we have the gift of Sabbath. Sabbath was established by the Creator, our Molder, our Potter. It reminds us that before God became our Redeemer, He was our Creator. He formed humanity from the dust of the earth with His own hands. The God who shaped Adam from the ground is the same God who desires to shape our hearts today. Every Sabbath is an invitation to return to the Potter's workshop. The beauty of being clay in the Potter's hands is that the outcome does not depend on our ability, wisdom, or strength. It depends on the skill, love, and purpose of the Potter. God never works on a life without a plan. Every moment of shaping, every season of waiting, and every lesson learned through life's experiences is part of His divine design.
The Sabbath offers a practical solution to our tendency to take control of our own lives. It calls us to stop striving, stop worrying, and stop carrying burdens that were never ours to bear. In resting with God, we learn to trust Him more deeply. In worshiping Him, we gain a clearer vision of His purpose. In spending time in His presence, our hearts become softer and more responsive to His leading. Happy Sabbath people of hope!
