Jesus IS the King! Christ was the point of God's plan. God's plan depended on Christ coming at the right time. God's plan was to bring everyone together in Christ by making him king over everyone. God is very happy about this plan, too, because it will save us. God is the only one who can save us. Jesus saves us and rules over us. So, the real question we face today is this: In what parts of our lives, hearts, secrets, sins, or rebellion have we not given him control?

Yes, there are things about our government that we don't like. But God has really blessed most of us so that we can be safe where we live because of the law. But we also live during some of the worst times for Christians that have ever been known. So, as we pray for our leaders and thank God for our freedoms, let's not forget the church that is being persecuted all over the world.

Satan is not a game or a make-believe thing. He is real, and his power is meant to hurt. But instead of worrying about him, let's resist him when he tempts us and put our attention on Jesus. He is the one who won the big battle with Satan at Calvary. He took Satan's most powerful weapon and made it useless. Now we can fight back, and Satan will run away.

Waiting is the one thing we don't like to do. Maybe that's why God wants us to learn how to do it so much. There is something good about staying strong during hard times and staying true when bad things happen. So God gives us times to wait so he can see if we are really looking for him or just for something new or easy.

Don't let the world shape you. Wow, that's a hard one to follow. It reminds us that what we think is one of the most dangerous places for spiritual battles. We are constantly given messages that distort God's truth and holy values. This makes us think in a sloppy way, which is more than just sloppy, it's dangerous. But instead of getting angry when people in the world act like people in the world, let's change by renewing our minds and doing what Paul said he did: take every thought and word captive for Christ. We often think that a tithe is giving ten percent of our money, but an even more important tithe is giving ten percent of our completely undivided thought time to the things of God.

"God-hunger aimed at the wrong source of soul satisfaction" is how addiction has been described. This is what Psalm 63 tells us. We have a deep desire to find God because he is not far away and wants to get to know us (cf. Acts 17). But most of the time, when we need God the most, he is the last place we go to find satisfaction. Let's really look for him and find what our souls need in him.
