To our fellow young people, may we never be afraid to dream, to serve, and to use our gifts for something greater than ourselves. In our own little ways, we can inspire, bring hope, and make a difference in the lives of others.

Let us continue to walk together, support one another, and make our youth a time of purpose, courage, and meaningful service.

Keep dreaming. Keep serving. Keep making a difference.

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time
JESUS IS CLOSER THAN WE THINK

How do we recognize that God is with us? Kapag maayos ang buhay? Kapag nasasagot ang ating prayers? If everything goes according to plan? But what about when life becomes difficult? Kapag may problema sa pamilya, karamdaman, financial struggles, unanswered prayers, o pagod na pagod na tayo?
Minsan sinasabi natin, “Lord, hindi ko na maramdaman ang presensya Mo.” But perhaps God is not absent. Perhaps we simply fail to recognize how He comes to us.
In the Gospel, the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water but did not recognize Him. They were afraid because Jesus came in a way they did not expect.
Ganito rin tayo minsan. We expect God to remove our problems immediately. But often, He comes quietly through a friend who checks on us, someone who listens, a simple word that gives courage, or an ordinary moment that restores our hope.
Minsan, hindi lumalayo ang Diyos. Tayo ang masyadong abala para mapansin na malapit na pala Siya.
Peter stepped out of the boat because he trusted Jesus. But when he focused on the wind and the waves instead of Christ, he began to sink.
Perhaps this is our reminder: What we constantly focus on becomes bigger in our lives. When we focus only on our problems, fear grows. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, courage grows.
And when Peter cried, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reached out His hand. Hindi Siya nanumbat. Hindi Siya nanghusga. He simply reached out. That is our God.
At nang sumakay si Jesus sa bangka, tumigil ang hangin. The storm became calm not simply because the problem disappeared, but because Jesus was in the boat. Sometimes God does not immediately remove the storm. Instead, He gives us His presence in the middle of it.
So today, ask yourself: Is Jesus in the boat of my life? When I am afraid, do I still listen for His voice? When I am sinking, do I still call His name?
Do not always wait for a miracle to recognize God. Sometimes, He is already there- in the person who stays, the friend who listens, the family who cares, and the ordinary moments that give us strength.
“Take courage. It is I. Do not be afraid.”
Hindi man natin nakikita ang buong daan, kasama natin Siya. Hindi man agad mawala ang bagyo, naroon Siya sa ating bangka.
And when we begin to sink, we can always pray:
“Lord, save me.”
Because Jesus is closer than we think.
Amen.

18th Sunday in Ordinary Time
The Miracle Begins When We Stop Waiting to Have More

Many of us believe that generosity can wait. We say, “Kapag nakaluwag-luwag na ako, saka ako tutulong.” We think we need more money, more time, or fewer responsibilities before we can truly give.

But today’s Gospel reminds us that Jesus never asked, “How much do you have?” Instead, He asked, “What do you have?”

The miracle of the multiplication of the loaves teaches us that God does not begin with abundance. He begins with willingness or availability. The five loaves and two fish were never enough on their own, but once they were placed into the hands of Jesus, they became more than enough for everyone.

The same is true in our lives. Our small acts of kindness, our time, our prayers, our presence, and even our simple words of encouragement may seem insignificant. Yet when offered with love and entrusted to God, they can become blessings that reach far beyond what we can imagine.

Today, let us stop waiting for the “perfect time” to love, to serve, and to be generous. God is not asking us to give what we do not have. He is simply asking us to offer what we already have and allow Him to do the rest.

Miracles begin, not when we finally have much, but when we stop withholding the little we already have and place it into the hands of Jesus.

May this Sunday’s Gospel inspire us to become generous not because we have plenty, but because we trust in the God who always makes enough.

Today, as we celebrate the Feast of St. John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of priests, we joyfully greet our beloved parish priest, Rev. Fr. Jojo D.G. Quesada, a blessed and happy Priest's Day!

With grateful hearts, we thank you for your faithful service, inspiring leadership, and unwavering dedication to our parish community. Together with the whole Church, we also lift in prayer all the priests of the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union. May the Lord continue to bless them with strength, wisdom, and perseverance as they shepherd His people with love and compassion.

17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
The Greatest Treasure

In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives us two parables: the hidden treasure and the pearl of great price. In both stories, the people gladly gave up everything not because they were forced to, but because they had found something far more valuable.

That is what the Kingdom of God is like.

The greatest treasure is not money, success, or anything this world can offer. The greatest treasure is a heart that belongs to God, a heart filled with faith, peace, contentment, and hope that no trial can steal.

Like the hidden treasure, God’s blessings are often already present in our lives. We find Him in our family, in the people who love us, in our daily blessings, and even in our struggles. Sometimes God hides these treasures so that we may seek Him more deeply.

Like the pearl of great price, God also teaches us to see true beauty, not in a life without problems, but in a life transformed by His grace. With Christ, even our crosses can become blessings, our tears can become healing, and our struggles can draw us closer to Him.

Jesus invites us today to ask ourselves: What treasure are we really searching for? The treasures of this world will one day pass away, but a life rooted in God will last forever.

When we discover Christ as our greatest treasure, following Him is no longer a burden. It becomes our greatest joy.

Amen.

16th Sunday in Ordinary Time | The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds

Jesus reminds us that the world will always have both wheat and weeds. But His invitation is not to spend our lives identifying who the weeds are. Instead, He asks us a more personal question:
“Will you remain wheat even when surrounded by weeds?”
We cannot control the attitudes of other people. We cannot stop gossip, criticism, betrayal, or the mistakes of others, even within the Church. But we can always choose how we respond.

Many times, it’s not the weeds that destroy us, but our reaction to them. Dati mabait tayo, pero dahil paulit-ulit tayong nasaktan, naging malamig na ang puso natin. Dati handa tayong tumulong, pero dahil naabuso ang kabutihan natin, ayaw na nating magmahal muli.
Jesus never said, “When the weeds grow, stop growing.” Instead, He calls us to continue living with kindness, patience, forgiveness, and faith, even when goodness seems difficult.
Don’t let angry people make you angry. Don’t let dishonest people make you dishonest. Don’t let the darkness around you extinguish the light within you.
In the end, Jesus will not ask us how many weeds we removed. He will ask:
“Did you remain faithful? Did you continue growing? Did you become the person I called you to be?”
Don’t let the weeds decide what kind of wheat you will become.
