Whatever is behind you, remember this: your past does not have the final say–Jesus does.

Because of the Blood of Jesus, we are redeemed, forgiven, cleansed, and made new. The cross was enough, and His grace still is.

So when the enemy tries to bring up your past, answer with the Truth of God’s Word: “We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” (Ephesians 1:7)

You are not defined by who you were. You are defined by what Christ has done for you.

Jesus said, “𝘎𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘦, 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯!” (Matthew 16:23, NKJV). He did not entertain what was contrary to God’s will—He rejected it. There was no negotiation, no agreement—only a decisive refusal.

That is how firm we must be.

“I turn my back on that thought. I will not allow it into my thought life. I will not entertain it. I will not give it room to move or take root within me.”

For the Word says, “𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘵𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵” (2 Corinthians 10:5, NKJV). We do not manage wrong thoughts—we take authority over them.

To be in Christ is to walk as He walked (1 John 2:6). When something opposed the truth, He did not reason with it—He refused it.

There are thoughts you must turn your back on to keep them out of your life.

But you must also fill your mind with what is of God. “𝘚𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩” (Colossians 3:2, NKJV). “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦… 𝘯𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦… 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵… 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘦… 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺… 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵… 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴” (Philippians 4:8, NKJV).

For we have been raised up and seated together with Christ (Ephesians 2:6, NKJV). And because of this, “𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘭𝘺” (Romans 16:20, NKJV). He is under your feet—but you must keep his influence behind you.

You do this by refusing to face it, refusing to fellowship with it, and refusing to give voice to it.

We do not dwell on circumstances. “𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘣𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵” (2 Corinthians 5:7, NKJV). We do not rehearse them or magnify them. Instead, we align our words and thoughts with truth.

“𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦” (Romans 8:6, NKJV).

So, we turn away from what opposes God—and we fix our eyes on Jesus, “𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩” (Hebrews 12:2, NKJV).
