Sa October 21-27, 2024, ang buong bansa ay magdiriwang ng Prison Awareness Week upang alalahanin ang ating mga kapatid sa loob ng rehas na bakal. Bilang bahagi ng simbahan, tayo ay inaasahan na makiisa sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay tulong pinansyal sa ating mga kapatid sa loob ng bilangguan. Dahil dito, ang Volunteers in Prison Service o VIPS ng ating parokya ay mamamahagi ng brown envelopes upang lagyan ng inyong love offering. Sila po ay makikita sa pintuan ng simbahan. Sa kasalukuyan, meron tayong 992 na bilanggo. Sabi ng ating Panginoong Hesus sa Mateo 25:36 : “ Ako'y walang maisuot at inyong dinamitan, nagkasakit at inyong dinalaw, nabilanggo at inyong pinuntahan.” Christ is counting on you”. Malaking tulong ang anumang halaga na inyong ipagkakaloob sa ating mga kapatid na nasa bilangguan dito sa Batangas. Maraming salamat po.

Join us in extending our support to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at Batangas Provincial Jail, in assistance with the Volunteers in Prison Service (VIPS) of the Parish Ministry on Social Services. With approximately 1,000 PDLs facing challenges like lack of personal needs, hygiene, and medical services, your help is vital. National Prison Awareness Week begins today, October 21, and runs until the 27th. 🌟 Morality in Media Symposium: Unveiling the Positive and Negative Effects of Social Media 🌟

What an incredible day of learning and reflection! 💡 On this day, we delved deeper into the positive and negative effects of social media and how it shapes the lives of our younger generation. We hope our young audience, the Grade 6 students of Julian A. Pastor Memorial Elementary School, gained valuable insights on how to use social media as a wholesome communication platform, balance social media use and avoid addiction, be aware of cyberbullying, and recognize the impact of social media on mental health, including depression. 💻📱

A critical topic addressed during the symposium was the connection between social media use and mental health, particularly the risk of depression. Students learned how constant exposure to curated, often unrealistic portrayals of life online can lead to feelings of inadequacy and loneliness. We highlighted the importance of taking breaks from social media and seeking support when feeling overwhelmed, promoting a culture of openness and compassion regarding mental health challenges. 💙

A huge thank you to our inspiring speaker, Ms. Ivy Rose G. Garcia, for sharing her wisdom with the students. We are also deeply grateful to the hardworking members of Mater Purissima Circle for organizing this event, especially Sis. Merle Gutierrez as our Morality in Media Chairperson and Sis. Krysta Elaine Abel-Torino as event host. 🙌

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jane Ante and Ms. Beatrice Dequito for their support in making this event possible. Your collaboration allowed us to bring these valuable lessons to the students, fostering a more responsible approach to social media use. 🤝
