Hosanna in the highest!

Today, we commemorate Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, greeted by crowds waving palm branches and shouting praises. It marks the beginning of Holy Week, the most sacred time in our Christian faith.

As we hold our palms and join in celebration, let us also pause and reflect:
Do we welcome Jesus into our hearts with the same joy and reverence?
Are we ready to journey with Him—not just in moments of glory, but also through the cross?

Palm Sunday is a reminder that praise must be matched with faithfulness. The same crowd that shouted “Hosanna!” would later cry “Crucify Him!” Let us not be mere spectators of Christ’s passion but true followers who remain steadfast in love, humility, and service.

May this Holy Week draw us closer to the heart of Jesus.

Ang Biyernes bago ang mga Mahal na Araw ay tradisyonal na tinatawag na “VIERNES DE DOLORES” o Friday of Sorrows. Sa araw na ito ay hinihimok tayong magnilay sa kabanalan at katapatan ni Maria, ang nahahapis na ina ng ating Panginoon. ✝️

As we begin the season of Lent in this Ash Wednesday, may the Ashes on our forehead serves as a reminder of our need for repentance.

Tuwing Hulyo 22 ay kapistahan ni Sta. Maria Magdalena, ang disipulo na taga-Magdala at isa sa pangunahing saksi ng Muling Pagkabuhay ng Panginoong Jesu-Kristo.

Sa Martirologio Romano ng Simbahang Katolika ay mababasa ang: “Memoria de santa María Magdalena, que, liberada por el Señor de siete demonios y convertida en su discípula, le siguió hasta el monte Calvario y mereció ser la primera que vio al Señor resucitado en la mañana de Pascua y la que se lo comunicó a los demás discípulos.”

Hindi siya kapatid ni Sta. Marta o ang makasalanan at penitenteng babae na nagpahid ng pabango sa mga paa ng Panginoon. Ito ay mababasang ipinaliwanag ng Simbahang Katolika sa Ex Decreto Santosancti (1969) kung saan partikular na sinabing: “S. Mariae Magdalenae... In liturgia romana instaurata iam non habebitur memoria Mariae de Bethania neque mulieris peccatricis de qua agitur in Lc, 36-50.” (p.97-98) at “S. Mariae Magdalenae... non vero de sorore S. Marthae neque de peccatrice dui Dominis remisit peccata.” (p.131) Hindi rin siya isang p**a dahil walang sinabi sa Bibliya tungkol dito.

Ang tunay na pagkakakilanlan kay Sta. Maria Magdalena ay makikita sa aklat nina San Lucas (8:2) at San Juan (20:10-18) kung saan isinalaysay na kasama niya sina Susanna at Sta. Juana ni Cusa na sinaniban ng pitong demonyo at pinagaling ni Jesu-Kristo. Paglaon, nagpakita sa kanya ang Panginoon na Muling Nabuhay at kaagad niyang binalita ito sa mga kasamahang apostol.

HOLY WEDNESDAY: Matthew 26:14-25

One of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot,
went to the chief priests and said,
“What are you willing to give me
if I hand him over to you?”
They paid him thirty pieces of silver,
and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over.
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread,
the disciples approached Jesus and said,
“Where do you want us to prepare
for you to eat the Passover?”
He said,
“Go into the city to a certain man and tell him,
‘The teacher says, “My appointed time draws near;
in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples.”’”
The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered,
and prepared the Passover.
When it was evening,
he reclined at table with the Twelve.
And while they were eating, he said,
“Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
Deeply distressed at this,
they began to say to him one after another,
“Surely it is not I, Lord?”
He said in reply,
“He who has dipped his hand into the dish with me
is the one who will betray me.
The Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him,
but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed.
It would be better for that man if he had never been born.”
Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply,
“Surely it is not I, Rabbi?”
He answered, “You have said so.”

DOMINGO DE LAZARO 2021

Panalangin kay San Lazaro de Betania.

O San Lazaro, minamahal na kaibigan ni Hesus, alalahanin mo ang malaking pag-ibig sa iyo ng Panginoon. Palagi Siya sa tahanan ninyo nang iyong mga kapatid na sina Marta at Maria at binasbasan Niya ang inyong pamilya ng Kanyang mapagpalang pananatili. Nanangis Siya sa iyong pagkamatay subalit ginawa Niya ang iyong kamatayan na isang kamangha-manghang pagpapahayag na Siya ang ating buhay at mag-muling pagkabuhay. Ibinangon ka Niya mula sa libingan ay pinalaya ka mula sa kamatayan upang bigyang kaluwalhatian ang Diyos Ama.

Ngayon sa kawalang hangganan, nabubuhay kang kasama ni Hesus, ang iyong minamahal na Kaibigan at ating Panginoon. Nakikiusap kami sa iyo na alalahanin mo kami sa banal na harapan ni Hesus at dalhin sa Kanya ang mga alalahanin naming ipinagkakatiwala sa iyong makapangyarihang pagdalangin.

Kung ang aming hinihiling ay hindi makapagbibigay ng malaon pang kaluwalhatian sa Diyos o hindi makabubuti sa aming mga kaluluwa, mangyaring tulungan mo kaming manalangin nang nararapat.

Nagtitiwala kami sa iyong malakapatid na ugnayan sa amin at kay Hesus at nakatitiyak kaming hindi mo kami babalewalain. Nang may pananampalataya kay Hesus, ang ating buhay at magmuling pagkabuhay, pinanabikan namin ang araw kung kailan, kasama ka, O San Lazaro, minamahal naming kaibigan at aba naming pintakasi , harap-harapan naming sasambahin at pasasalamatan ang Ama, ang Anak at ang Espiritu Santo, magpasawalang-hanggan.

Amen.
