J.I. Packer states in his book, Knowing God, “As Romans is the high peak of the Bible, so Romans 8 is the high peak of Romans.”
It is here the apostle Paul presses the reality of God’s love into the reality of our lives. In response to the incredible news of the gospel Paul poses a series of questions that Christians often face in their daily lives:
“Can I be sure that God will protect me?”
“Can I be sure that God will provide for me?”
“What if I sin too much?”
“Is there anything that can separate me from God’s love?”
Paul’s response is a resounding declaration there is nothing that can change, diminish, or threaten God’s love for us.
If Our God is For Us is a song of celebration, for the answers to these questions should bring us to a place of confidence and joy.
Those who have been rescued and redeemed are secure, for God’s love is an everlasting love.
