📖 1 Corinthians 5:1–5
Paul now addresses another serious problem in the church, tolerated sin. Instead of mourning over sin and dealing with it rightly, the Corinthian believers became proud and careless.
The church is called to pursue holiness because it belongs to God. Sin must never be ignored or celebrated among God’s people. Biblical discipline is not about cruelty, but about protecting the purity of the church and calling sinners to repentance.
As followers of Christ, we are reminded to respond to sin with humility, obedience to God’s Word, and a sincere desire for restoration.

“The church is not a fellowship of sinless people. It is a fellowship of repentant, forgiven sinners who by the grace of God are pursuing a life of holiness and obedience to the Lord.” —Steven Cole

📖 1 Corinthians 4:14–21

Paul reminds the Corinthians that he relates to them not only as a servant of Christ, but also as a spiritual father. Spiritual fatherhood goes beyond instruction. It involves love, care, example, correction, and discipleship.

We become spiritual fathers and mothers by leading others to Christ through the gospel, lovingly admonishing fellow believers, setting a godly example, teaching truth, and helping others grow in spiritual maturity.

The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. God calls believers to invest in one another for growth, encouragement, and accountability in the faith.

May we be willing both to disciple others and to humbly receive the guidance of mature believers in Christ.

💬 Word for Thought:
“Spiritual fatherhood involves modeling a life surrendered to Christ, offering mentorship, and imparting spiritual wisdom to younger believers.” —John Piper

📖 1 Corinthians 4:6–13

Paul continues to address the problem of pride in the church. While the Corinthians were boasting in people and elevating themselves, the apostles modeled humility, sacrifice, and suffering for Christ’s sake.

The Christian life is not about self-exaltation or status. Everything we have is received from God, leaving no room for boasting. Pride brings division, but humility produces unity among believers.

True servants of Christ are willing to be weak, misunderstood, and even despised for the sake of the gospel. God is not looking for proud followers, but humble servants who faithfully represent Christ.

💬 Word for Thought:
“Humility is the foundational virtue for a Christian, while unity in the church is a high priority that flows from shared humility.” —John MacArthur

𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧
📖 1 Corinthians 4:1–5

This truth applies to every believer in Christ. We are called to see ourselves rightly, not as exalted individuals, but as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

The primary requirement is simple yet weighty: faithfulness. God does not measure success the way the world does. He looks for hearts that are loyal, obedient, and sincere in serving Him.

Evaluation, then, is not based on human opinion or even our own assessment. The Lord Himself is the true judge, and He sees not only what we do but why we do it.

Let us serve with humility, knowing that what matters most is faithfulness and purity of motive before God.

💬 Word for Thought:
“God evaluates us not so much on what we did but on why we did it.” —John MacArthur

📖 1 Corinthians 3:18–23
Division in the church often reveals deeper issues such as worldliness, spiritual immaturity, and a wrong view of ministry and rewards. Paul calls believers to examine themselves and realign their thinking with God’s truth.
We are warned not to be deceived by the wisdom of this world, which is foolish, misleading, and ultimately empty before God. Instead, we are reminded not to boast in men, because everything we have is already ours in Christ.
Our identity is secure. We belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. In Him, we lack nothing, and our lives are safely hidden in Him.
