Mass Presider: Rev. Fr. Nestor Atillo

23/08/2026

๐‡๐Ž๐Œ๐ˆ๐‹๐˜ ๐‡๐ˆ๐†๐‡๐‹๐ˆ๐†๐‡๐“๐’ | In his homily, Rev. Fr. Nestor Atillo emphasizes that our encounter with Christ during the Holy Eucharist is not merely a habit or routine gesture, but a transformative gift that should change our hearts and lives. Referring to the history and foundation of our faith passed down from Christ to St. Peter and through the Church, he reminds us to reflect deeply on who Christ truly is in our daily lives.

May this remind us to reflect and grow with God. That we may grow in faith and better understand who Jesus is in our daily walk.

August 22 | Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary
"Hail, Holy Queen! Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope."

Today the Church honors Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. Not because she sought a throne, but because she said "yes" to God.
As Queen, she reigns with love, leads us to her Son, intercedes for us, protects us, and teaches us how to trust in Godโ€™s will in every season of life. Her queenship is not one of pride or power, but of love, service, and motherhood.

The Queenship of Mary reminds us of 3 things:
1. Motherhood - She is our mother who never stops caring for us
2. Intercession - She brings our prayers to Jesus
3. Hope- She shows us what God promises to all who remain faithful

May Mary, our Queen and Mother, obtain for our parish unity, for our families peace, and for our youth the courage to say "yes" to God like she did.

Mary, our Mother and Queen of Heaven, pray for us!
Lead us always to Jesus.

August 21 | Memorial of St. Pius X
On this day we honor St. Pius X, Pope, Pastor, and Servant of God. A shepherd with the heart of a father.

Born poor, he lived simply and gave everything for the Church. He restored the Church not with power, but with simplicity, humility, and love for souls.
St. Pius X defended sound doctrine, promoted catechism, and opened the doors of Communion to children. He urged all of us to make the Eucharist the center of our lives. He taught us that the most powerful thing we can do is to receive Jesus in the Eucharist often, to know our faith well, and to live with humility.

St. Pius X, pray for us that we too may say with you: โ€œTo restore all things in Christ.โ€

Today the Church joyfully celebrates Saint Cajetan of Thiene, priest, confessor, and founder of the Clerks Regular, known as the Theatines.

Born into nobility in Italy, Cajetan gave up a promising career in law to serve Christ in the poor, the sick, and those forgotten by society. During times of war, plague, and corruption, he founded hospitals, established pawnshops to help the poor escape usury, and worked tirelessly for the renewal of the priesthood and the Church. He is remembered as the patron of job seekers, the unemployed, and divine providence โ€” a man who trusted God so completely that he lived in total dependence on Him.

Saint Cajetan reminds us that holiness is lived in ordinary work, in generosity toward those in need, and in placing our worries about the future into Godโ€™s hands.
May his life inspire us to be people of integrity, to serve with compassion, and to trust that God will provide.

Saint Cajetan, patron of workers and of providence, pray for us.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Feast of Saint Titus Brandsma, the patron saint of Catholic journalists and Catholic Esperantists.

Saint Titus Brandsma was a Dutch Carmelite priest, scholar, writer, and journalist who dedicated his life to proclaiming the truth of the Gospel. As an adviser to the Dutch bishops on Catholic journalism, he defended the freedom of the Catholic press and remained steadfast in his opposition to N**i ideology, courageously speaking out against injustice and the spread of falsehood.

Because of his unwavering fidelity to Christ and the truth, he was imprisoned during the N**i occupation of the Netherlands. Enduring immense suffering as he was transferred from one prison camp to another, Saint Titus continued to radiate kindness, hope, and charity. He comforted fellow prisoners, prayed for those who persecuted him, and never ceased to witness to God's love. His journey of faith led him to the Dachau concentration camp, where he died as a martyr on July 26, 1942.

May the life of Saint Titus Brandsma inspire us to remain courageous in defending truth, steadfast in our faith, and compassionate toward others, even in the face of suffering. Like him, may we proclaim the Gospel with integrity, hope, and love, becoming faithful witnesses of Christ in our words and in our lives.

Saint Titus Brandsma, pray for us.

Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of Saint James the Apostle, also known as Saint James the Greater. Called by Jesus from his life as a fisherman, he faithfully followed the Lord and became one of His closest disciples. Through his unwavering faith and devotion, Saint James courageously proclaimed the Gospel and became the first Apostle to be martyred for Christ (Acts 12:1โ€“2). He is the patron saint of pilgrims, Spain, laborers, and equestrians. Saint James reminds us that following Christ requires courage, sacrifice, and steadfast faith. May we, like him, faithfully answer God's call each day.

Saint James the Apostle, courageous witness of Christ, pray for us. Strengthen our faith and help us follow Jesus with generous hearts. Amen.
