Bangued Town Fiesta - WASHINGTON DAY opens with Solemn Eucharistic Celebration

The Bangued Town Fiesta (Washington Fiesta) formally commenced today with a solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the St. James the Elder Cathedral in Bangued.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Most Reverend Leopoldo C. Jaucian, SVD, DD, and concelebrated by diocesan and SVD priests.

The Holy Mass was attended by the officials and employees of the Local Government Unit of Bangued, led by the Honorable Perfecto Cardenas, signifying a unified and faith-centered opening of this year’s town festivities.

The celebration underscored the community’s spirit of thanksgiving, solidarity, and devotion as the municipality begins its annual fiesta celebration.

A gentle reminder to all our parishioners: CLAPPING has NO significance in ALL liturgical celebrations, especially this Lenten Season; in other words, the "fasting" of our senses.

- Abp. Socrates Villegas (2020) said: "Let us add more abstinence to this sober season. Let us abstain from applause in Church. May this abstinence from clapping flow over into the other days of the year."

- Saint Pius X said “It is not fitting that the servant should be applauded in his Master’s house”.

- Pope Benedict XVI on the same matter said “Wherever applause breaks out in the liturgy because of some human achievement, it is a sure sign that the essence of liturgy has totally disappeared and replaced by a kind of religious entertainment”.
