HELLO, ATES AND KUYAS! ๐ค๐ฉต
We are now in the month of September! Of course, it is not only the beginning of the โBERโ months, it is also a month for us to pause, check on one another, and give importance to something that we sometimes forget to talk about: MENTAL HEALTH.
Sometimes, we look at someone and think, โOkay ra man siya.โ
But we never really know what someone is silently carrying.
As a SCAn, let us be reminded that mental health is something we should care about, not only when someone is already struggling, but every day, through the way we treat, listen to, and accompany one another.
There are times when we feel like wala na gyud tay solution sa atong problema. There are moments when the weight feels too heavy and the words are difficult to say.
But sometimes, what a person needs first is not an immediate solution, it is someone who will listen, someone who will stay, and someone who will care.
Let our Student Catholic Action page and our hearts become safe spaces where people can be heard, understood, and accepted.
AS AN SCA COMMUNITY, WE ARE CALLED TO:
๐ค COMMUNITY IS CARING AND SHARING.
We care for one another and share not only our happiness, but also our struggles, stories, hopes, and prayers. Sometimes, a simple โKumusta ka?โ, a listening ear, or a kind word can remind someone that they are not alone.
๐ค COMMUNITY IS BEARING.
We bear one another's burdens. We do not leave someone behind when life becomes difficult. Instead, we choose to walk with them, especially during the moments when the journey feels too heavy to carry alone.
๐ COMMUNITY IS SERVING.
We serve through our presence, our time, our words, and our actions. We may not always be able to solve someone's problems, but we can choose to be there, to listen, to help, and to make someone feel that they matter.
๐ COMMUNITY IS LEARNING TOGETHER.
We continue to learn about mental health, to understand what others may be going through, and to break the stigma that prevents people from asking for help. Through understanding, we become more compassionate and more willing to care.
๐ COMMUNITY IS PRAYING.
We bring one another to God. When we do not know what to say or what to do, we can pray. And when someone feels like they have lost hope, we can remind them that God is still present, even in the middle of the struggle.
As SCAns, may we become a community where no one feels unseen, unheard, or forgotten.
Let us be the person who listens.
The person who checks in.
The person who stays.
The person who serves.
The person who cares.
The person who prays.
Because we may not always have the answer to someone's problem, but we can always choose to be present.
And when life feels like there is no way out, let us remind one another:
โYou don't have to carry it alone. We are here. We will walk with you. And we will pray with you.โ
If you are going through something and simply need someone to talk to, you may send us a message through this page. ๐ฌ
You don't have to know exactly what to say.
You don't have to explain everything at once.
Even a simple:
โPwede ko makigstorya?โ
is enough. โบ๏ธ
Let this month be a reminder that caring for one another is not a small thing. Sometimes, your presence, your kindness, and your willingness to listen may be exactly what someone needs today.
Living with faith. Living with purpose. Living for one another.
