MAY 8 | MEMORIAL OF ST. PETER OF TARENTAISE
St. Peter of Tarentaise was a Cistercian monk and bishop known for his humility, wisdom, and dedication to peace and reform within the Church. Born in France in the 12th century, he entered monastic life at a young age and later became Archbishop of Tarentaise. Though he desired a quiet life of prayer, he faithfully accepted leadership and worked tirelessly to guide his people, reconcile conflicts, and care for the poor. He was respected for his holiness and simple way of life, always placing God and the needs of others before himself. St. Peter reminds us that true greatness is found in humble service, faithfulness, and a heart devoted to peace and charity.
