EVENING PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
As this day comes to an end, we thank You for Your guidance and care.
Please quiet our minds and ease any worries in our hearts.

Grant us peaceful rest tonight,
So that we may wake refreshed, renewed, and ready for tomorrow’s work.
Fill our sleep with calm and protection,
And let Your presence bring us comfort and safety through the night.

Bless the work we will do tomorrow,
Give us strength, focus, and patience,
And guide our steps in all that we do.

Into Your hands we place our thoughts, our plans, and our rest. Amen.

WHY ANGLICANS BAPTIZE CHILDREN AND ADULTS.

The Anglican Church practices baptism for both infants (young children) and adults because of its theological roots and understanding of what baptism means.

1. Baptism as a sign of God’s grace

Anglicans believe baptism is a sacrament—an outward sign of inward spiritual grace. It’s not just about a person’s decision; it’s also about God welcoming someone into the Christian community.
• For infants, baptism shows that God’s love and grace come before we can choose or understand.
• For adults, baptism reflects a personal decision of faith.

2. Biblical and early church tradition

The Anglican tradition follows both:
• The teachings of the Bible (including whole households being baptized in the New Testament)
• The practices of the early Christian church, which baptized both adults and children

3. Covenant and community

Anglicans see the church as a family or covenant community, similar to how children in ancient Israel were included in God’s covenant.
• When a baby is baptized, parents and godparents make promises to raise the child in the faith.
• Later, the child can personally affirm those promises in a rite called confirmation.

4. Adult baptism is still important

Adult baptism is common when someone:
• Converts to Christianity
• Was not baptized as a child

In those cases, the person makes their own confession of faith at baptism.

In short

Anglicans baptize both because they hold two truths together:
• God’s grace is given freely (so infants can be baptized)
• Personal faith matters (so adults are baptized when they believe)

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jermiah 17:7-8

PRAYER FOR PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Gracious God,
your Son Jesus Christ is our peace and our hope:
we bring before you the peoples of the Middle East,
and all who live in fear, sorrow, and uncertainty.

Comfort those who mourn,
heal those who are wounded,
and protect all who are in danger.
Be a refuge to the displaced
and a light to those in darkness.

Guide the nations and their leaders
in the ways of justice, mercy, and truth.
Turn hearts from violence to compassion,
and give a spirit of reconciliation to all.

Break down the walls of hatred and distrust,
and sow the seeds of peace
where there has been conflict and division.

Strengthen your Church to be an instrument of your peace,
bearing witness to your love in word and deed.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the blessing of this Sunday morning. We come before You with grateful hearts for the gift of life, for the breath in our lungs, and for the countless blessings You have placed in our lives.

Lord, we ask that You fill our hearts and our homes with Your peace today. Calm every worry, remove every fear, and help us trust that You are guiding our steps. Let Your presence lead us in all that we do.

Father, we thank You for the miracles You are working in our lives—even the ones we cannot yet see. Strengthen our faith to trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect plan. Open the doors that are meant for us, provide what we need, and bring healing, restoration, and joy where it is needed most.

Help us walk in kindness, patience, and love today. Let our words encourage others and our actions reflect Your grace.

We place this day in Your hands and trust that Your peace surrounds us, Your blessings follow us, and Your miracles are already at work.

In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
