Prayer for God’s Shelter in the Midst of Typhoon Opong

O God of refuge and strength.

Even now, as Typhoon Opong unleashes strong winds and relentless rains, we come before You in prayer. Many of our sisters and brothers are in fear, waters are rising, and homes are being battered. Lord, stretch out Your hand of protection over every community in harm’s way.

Provide for those who are stranded and hungry, comfort the children and the elderly, and shield the most vulnerable from danger. Stir our local churches, O God, to open their doors as sanctuaries of safety and compassion in this very hour of need.

As we endure this storm, we cannot forget the sins of neglect and corruption that worsen people’s suffering. May this crisis awaken consciences and remind those who squandered public resources that every peso wasted is a life put at risk.

Lord, stay with us in the howling winds and rushing waters. Be our anchor of hope until this storm passes. We cling to Your promise that You are our shelter and strong tower in times of trouble.

In the name of Christ, our Protector, we pray.

Amen.

CYF, LET US STAND AGAINST CORRUPTION!

READ: Here’s the official statement of the Christian Youth Fellowship of United Metropolis Conference regarding the flood control ghost projects rooted in systemic corruption.

We, the CYF of United Metropolis Conference strongly condemn the unjust and inhumane practices of our government officials that resulted in the deliberate use of funds for their personal gain.

The Filipino people deserve better!
Thus, it is high time for us as Christians to be voices for Christ’s people!

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit convicts all those who are involved in this issue. May they be accountable for their actions, do what is just, and walk in righteousness. As it is written in Amos 5:24, β€œInstead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.”

August 17, 2025 UCWO APPRECIATION SUNDAY, let’s not only clap for our church workers, let’s stand beside them. Let’s be a church that works together, prays together, and grows together for the glory of God.

Church workers are gifts to the body of Christ but they are also human, in need of encouragement, rest, and partnership.

As Paul said, β€œAlways give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58). Let’s commit to serving side by side, until the day the Master says, β€œWell done, good and faithful servant.”
