Elul reminds us that preparation begins with the heart.

Like the ten virgins waiting for the Bridegroom, we are called to ๐™š๐™ญ๐™–๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š ๐™ค๐™ช๐™ง ๐™๐™š๐™–๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™จ, ๐™ง๐™š๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ, ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™ฅ๐™ง๐™š๐™ฅ๐™–๐™ง๐™š. The wise virgins did not simply carry their lampsโ€”they made sure they had enough oil.

As we approach the Fall Feasts, let us not be found spiritually unprepared.

Torah Portion #47 - Reโ€™eh | ืจึฐืึตื” | Behold

โ€œThe forty-seventh reading from the Torah and the fourth reading from the book of Deuteronomy is named Reโ€™eh, an imperative form of the word โ€œsee.โ€ It is the first word of the Torah portion: โ€œSee [reโ€™eh], I am setting before you today a blessing and a curseโ€ (Deuteronomy 11:26). This reading contains admonitions to topple the Canaanite religious centers, warnings against idolatry, and a prohibition on making sacrifices outside of Godโ€™s Holy Temple. The place of the Temple is enigmatically referred to as โ€œthe place which the LORD your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwellingโ€ (Deuteronomy 12:5โ€“7). The portion goes on to warn against false prophets, reiterate the biblical dietary laws, and introduce legislation regarding tithing, the sabbatical year of release, and the pilgrimage festivals.โ€ - ยฉ First Fruits of Zion
