DEVOTION:
Luke 10:19
"Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you."
REFLECTION
In this verse, Jesus speaks to the seventy disciples He sent out to preach, heal, and proclaim the Kingdom of God. They return amazed that even demons were subject to His name. Jesus responds by reminding them — and us — of a powerful truth:
✅He has given us authority.
Not authority based on our strength, our holiness, or our ability,
but authority given by Him, the risen Son of God.
“Serpents and scorpions” symbolize the strategies, attacks, and temptations of the enemy.
Jesus is assuring us that no weapon formed against us is greater than the power He has placed within us.
This does not mean we will never face battles — it means we will never face them without authority.
✅When fear rises, remember:
You have authority.
When the enemy attacks your mind, your home, your peace, remember:
You have authority.
When discouragement whispers that you are too weak, remind yourself:
Jesus has already empowered you.
This authority is not arrogance — it is confidence in Christ.
It is the boldness to stand, speak, resist, declare, and walk in victory.
PERSONAL APPLICATION
Ask yourself today:
• Am I living as if I have the authority Jesus gave me?
• Or am I allowing fear, doubt, and the enemy’s lies to control me?
Let this verse remind you:
You are not powerless.
You are not unprotected.
You are not defeated.
You are covered, empowered, and backed by the authority of Jesus Himself.
Walk with confidence today, not because of who you are,
but because of who lives in you.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me authority over the enemy.
Teach me to walk in faith, not fear.
Strengthen me to stand firm against every attack of the enemy.
Fill me with boldness, wisdom, and confidence in Your power.
Today, I choose to walk in the victory You have already won.
Amen.
