HOLY COMMUNION ๐Ÿž๐Ÿท

Today, our church family observed the first Holy Communion of the year, a very meaningful way of celebrating the Easter Sunday.

โ€‹Rev. Rolyn reminded us of the profound significance behind this act - that Jesus Christ came to this earth to die for our sins. Following His command to "do this in remembrance of Me," we took time to reflect on His sacrifice and the new life we have in Him.

โ€‹After an exhortation and prayer over the elements, the congregation joined together in partaking of the bread and cup, showing a beautiful moment of worship, gratitude, and community.

"Adi tako bukudan di gawis. Ta nu bukudan tayo ti gawis, biyag ti managbasul diyay, biyag ti awan pammati na diyay."

On a stirring message, Rev. Rolyn preached that selfishness is symptomatic of an unrepentant and sinnerโ€™s life. He noted that true repentance necessitates a shift from self-centeredness to love and devotion of sharing to the needy and caring for others.

โ€œJohn answered, โ€˜Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.โ€™ โ€œ(NIV)

Just like what John the Baptist said in Luke 3:11, we ought to share with the one who has none. Rev. Rolyn expounded it by also saying: โ€œWhatever you have, may you have the love to share and care for those in need. If we love others, we care for them.โ€

He admonished that we should have the heart to share with those who are in need because if we have truly repented, we love, and when we love - we care, we share.

Drawing from Luke 3:1โ€“22, we see John the Baptist boldly rebuking the crowds seeking baptism, charging them in verse 8 to "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance."

In his introduction, Rev. Rolyn echoed this call, emphasizing that just as John the Baptist challenged and rebuked the crowds, we too must remain open to correction, sincere repentance, and personal change. True repentance is shown in a life that actively lives out the tangible fruits of a changed and repenting heart.

To be truly bears the fruits of repentance is to/have:

1. The love of sharing and caring
2. The proper use of authority
3. Being content of what we have

Itโ€™s a lesson weโ€™ve heard a thousand times. Itโ€™s familiar, basic, even.

Yet common knowledge doesn't always lead to common practice. We know, in theory, that everything we have should glorify God. But do we actually do it? Are we truly stewarding everything we own as if He is the Source, or have we just become comfortable with the concept?

On January 24, 2026, guided by the insightful teaching of Pastor Jefte Cuyopan ( Cuyopan Jefte Taguiba ), a new generation of BEMC leaders gathered to ground themselves in the essentials of Christian ministry.

Pastor Jefte began by distinguishing worldly leadership from the Biblical and Christian leadership, effectively renewing the minds of our youth toward servant leadership with Jesus Christ as the ultimate example. He emphasized the necessity of โ€œzeal with knowledge,โ€ reminding us that passion must be balanced with wisdom.

Key takeaways from the session included:
* Leadership is Influence: It is the ability to influence others toward a common goal.
* Leadership is Learned: It is a skill learned over time, not an inherited trait.
* Leadership Starts Within: We must be able to lead ourselves before we can lead others.

The session deeply explored the heart of a leader, defined by humility, sacrifice, faithfulness, and obedience. Pastor Jefte beautifully illustrated this with the phrase, โ€œ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐ญ๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ฅ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ฌ ๐›๐ž๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ž ,โ€ referencing Jesusโ€™ act of service in John 13. Echoing Timothy Keller, he reminded us that God calls us to be shepherds, not bosses.

Finally, he focused on the leaderโ€™s attitude: a teachable spirit, a servantโ€™s heart, and humility that produces excellence. Citing Philippians 2:8, he noted humility and obedience goes hand in hand and that if Christ followed instructions, so must we. If we cannot submit to Godโ€™s instructions, we cannot lead His people.

We are incredibly thankful for this investment in this next generation! ๐ŸŒฑ

๐๐„๐Œ๐‚ ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–!

This celebration, we aren't just counting years, we are recounting the faithfulness of God. From the moment our foundation was laid, the Lord has sustained us, proving His devotion to His church through every high and low.

Weโ€™ve seen it all: the laughter of Sunday School children growing into the passion of young adulthood, the beginning of new families, and the expansion of new ministries. Weโ€™ve cheered for each otherโ€™s promotions and successes, and weโ€™ve sat in the quiet of the valleys, being the "shoulder and backbone" for those walking through loss.

This anniversary is also a beautiful bridge between our past and our future. We are deeply grateful for the leaders who served before us, and we are overjoyed to ordain a new group of faithful servants today. As they say โ€œYes and Amenโ€ to their new roles, we look forward to seeing how God will continue to write our story.

Happy 18th anniversary, BEMC family!

Soli Deo Gloria! ๐Ÿคโœจ
