THE GOLDEN JUBILEE COUNTDOWN | Walong Araw nalang, GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION & GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING na!

As we draw closer to our 50th Anniversary (1976–2026), San Pablo Seminary looks back with immense gratitude for the dedicated religious congregations that have served as our steadfast collaborators. Throughout these five decades, priests and religious sisters from these communities have offered their lives, gifts, and wisdom as seminary formators and professors.

SPS proudly honors them during this Golden Jubilee for their enduring partnership and invaluable contribution to the seminary's mission. THE GOLDEN JUBILEE COUNTDOWN | Siyam na Araw nalang, GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION & GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING na!

As we approach the historic milestone of San Pablo Seminary’s Golden Jubilee (1976–2026) and Grand Alumni Homecoming, we proudly honor one of SPS’s very own sons who continues to witness to God's faithful call:

MOST REV. NICK VAQUILAR, D.D.
Bishop of Urdaneta
Batch 1992

Born on May 3, 1970, in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Bishop Nick Vaquilar walked the halls of San Pablo Seminary as part of Batch 1992, discerning the voice of the Good Shepherd. On May 5, 1997, he was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, dedicating nearly three decades of passionate ministry to the pastoral care of the faithful.

After twenty-nine years of priestly service, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV appointed him as the Bishop of Urdaneta. He received episcopal consecration on July 21, 2026, and was solemnly installed as the shepherd of the Diocese of Urdaneta on July 28, 2026.

Bishop Nick’s episcopal lineage links him in an unbroken chain of apostolic succession through historical figures of the Church, including Pope St. Pius X (consecrated 1884), Pope Clement XIII (consecrated 1743), and Pope Benedict XIV (consecrated 1724).

His journey stands as a radiant reminder that the seed of vocation planted within the sanctuary of San Pablo Seminary grows to serve the universal Church across generations.

As we count down to our Jubilee and welcome home returning alumni from all over the world, we give thanks to God for Bishop Nick Vaquilar and for all formators and alumni who carry the light of SPS wherever they serve.

May the Lord continue to guide his episcopal ministry with wisdom, fortitude, and a shepherd’s heart!
