Loving and merciful Father,
In the midst of our struggles, disappointments, and wounds, teach us to recognize the depth of Your mercy. You continually forgive our sins and invite us to extend the same mercy to those who have hurt us.
When anger and resentment begin to take hold of our hearts, remind us of how generously You have forgiven us. Like the servant in the Gospel who received great mercy but failed to show it to another, keep us from taking Your forgiveness for granted. Help us remember that the mercy we receive from You is also a mercy we are called to share.
Teach us to forgive not only with our words, but from the heart. Help us release the hurts that keep us from loving fully, while giving us the courage to seek reconciliation when it is possible. May we remember that forgiveness does not erase what happened, but frees our hearts to let Your love and mercy have the final word.
We pray for our families, communities, and nation, especially those experiencing broken relationships, conflict, injustice, and suffering. Bring healing to those who carry deep wounds, reconciliation to those who are divided, and peace to those struggling to let go of anger. Give our leaders wisdom and compassion, and make us instruments of understanding, healing, and peace.
As we go through this week, help us reflect the mercy You have shown us. May we become more patient with others, more compassionate toward those who struggle, and more willing to forgive even when it is difficult.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
